Hi. I really want to try Solotica lenses (in Ice, I think), but I've worn FreshLook ColorBlends in the past, and they didn't cover my entire iris. My natural eye color (dark brown) showed in a ring all the way around the outside of the colored part of the lens. Not a huge amount of my iris was visible, but definitely enough to be noticed.
I'm hoping someone can help me determine whether Soloticas would give me the same bad results before i drop $100+ on a pair on lenses. I know Soloticas come in three different styles, and the Hidrocharme are my favorite, but if the colored part of the lenses is as small as the Colorblends, maybe the Hidrocor would look more natural? Maybe someone who has worn Freshlook Colorblends and Soloticas can tell me how the size of the colored part of the lenses compares? Sorry if my post is confusing. I'll be happy to answer any questions. Thanks for the help. ![]() |

Now, it seems that Hidrocharme and Hidrocor lenses only come in a diameter of 14.2 millimeters. Freshlook ColorBlends only come in 14.5, so they may be just what you're looking for. Do you have a prescription for your contact lenses? If so, it should tell you what lens diameter you need. I don't think you need one for lenses from Brazil, but if you want to order from the States, then by law you must have a prescription. |

i could not tell with freshlook cb and solotica as both cover my iris perfectly.. they look the same to me but then i've seen a lot of pictures of Solotica were you can see the color outside the iris... specially on mel color looks bad!
I just got Solotica solflex and because these have a thicker definition ring it should not be a problem ![]() |

I couldn't find that video either. What name did you use? Maybe we can find it that way. Did you call yourself "Karentraven" on YouTube too?

The lenses look good, but I noticed that you were blinking a lot. Was it because the contacts are uncomfortable, or because there was a camera six inches away from your eyeball? |

- i'm new to wearing solotica. quartzo in prescription. The color is fantastic but the lenses are not comfortable after only a few hours for me. i've seen reviews were they say they are comfortable but also a lot saying how dry they are. I ordered from wrlens and the service was fine. I'm so amazed by the color of these...the color of your eye will show around your pupil but they blend better then colorblends on me... it looks natural and in light you can see your real eye in a pretty way thur the lens and it doesn't look fake or "snakey" i just wish that for 100 bucks i could make these my all day lenses. i have to remove them after about 4 hours. enzyme clean every week or they hurt in 10 minutes....

it's kind of a subjective call. If you need to wear something all day i would say thumbs down. These are definitely irritating to my eyes. If you want a dramatic/more realistic color change for 1/2 a day..thumbs up hahaha. I've never had this kind of problem with a lens. Any discomfort was always immediate and i knew that brand wasn't for me. i think my eyes have gotten used to the newer materials used in disposables and i may be wrong but i believe the annual lenses from solotica are an older/less used material? hmmmmm

Says here that Solotica Quartzo are made of 62% Polymacon. I like how on the website they go on to say "Hydration: 38%." That somehow sounds more soothing than "38% water," even though it means the same thing. I thought that material sounded familiar, so I did a search. It turns out that there are Other Contact Lenses that are 62% Polymacon, including Biomedics 38, Optima 38/SP, Optima FW and SofLens Multi-Focal. Here I thought Solotica lenses were unique. |

Do they feel better than they did when you made that video? Are you blinking less these days?

Eyemed Adore Bitone in Yellow are my favs, those are sooo natural, these a good option for fans of solotica Mel, perhaps are not as light as Mel but are really natural, i'm also building my little collection of Soleko, i have some pairs of solitaire and trilogy are on its way tho trilogy are not semi-opaques but i would like to give it a shot.the problem is not to find nice lenses, the problem is to decide which to purchase first ![]() |

It looks like you have over 20 posts now, Karen. Have you posted a link to that video yet?

The lenses look good in low light, but in bright light I noticed that a little bit of brown is visible and the pupil hole has quite and abrupt edge to it. IN some of the views I noticed that your eye looked a little red. Do those contacts make your eyes a little sore and tired? |

I wish I knew enough about color contacts to suggest a different brand. Have you checked Lens.com? The lenses aren't as fancy there as the Solotica lenses, but you might just find them more comfortable. They also come from the United States, and I believe Solotica lenses are from Brazil. I don't know if that affects your decision, but there it is.

So Soloticas may be slightly smaller but the COLORED part of the lens is larger The average iris size 12mm, I doubt the original poster's iris was extending beyond their contact lenses, that would just be weird |

They probably logged in here because they thought it was weird, too. |

I have seen plenty of people with large irises wearing solotica (on another forum) and it creates a nice natural limbal ring. The only line that looked a little weird was solotica hidrocharme (not sure if i spelled correctly) - and that it because this lens already has a pronounced limbal ring. Solotica Natural Colors and Hidrocor looked good.

You can buy any of those lenses (or all of them, if you're so inclined) from www.Lens.com. |

Yes, unfortunately they usually don't list the size of the COLORED part of the lens--only the diameter of the lens itself If you notice, colored contacts are not printed to the edge of the contact--there is a clear edge so even if one lens is 14.5 and the other is 14.2, the colored part of the 14.2 lens could be larger I actually thought that this was pretty obvious.....even the original poster said , "My natural eye color (dark brown) showed in a ring all the way around the outside of the colored part of the lens" |
|
|||
|
Quote:
And these diameters are useless when determining the size of the COLORED part of the lens the diameter refers to the size of the entire lens, not just the colored part |

Solotica Natural Colors Quartzo and Topazio looked a little funny on larger irises...like there was a bold limbal ring.. It looked really pretty but unrealistic |

I couldn't seem to find a picture to illustrate, though. Maybe someone else can. |

the first is freshlook colorblends and the second is solotica hidrocharme verde marine As you can see, even though the freshlook lens is slightly bigger the printed part of the soloticas appears to be larger |

Unless ordering custom lenses with these specific instructions, all coloured lenses have a clear edge. |

Right now I own Solotica, Magic Top and Waicon lenses. All beautiful but customs - especially FXeyes - are simply gorgeous. |

![]() I'm glad Lens 101 has been helpful in your research anyway. It's like the guy who helps his platonic female friend find a boyfriend, then attends her wedding as a guest. How many "chick flicks" featured that plot?Seriously, I don't watch chick flicks-- --but I do attend weddings. |
|

Oh nooo I feel bad -but I swear I would date Lens 101 if he carried one single color lens brand in my prescription! -9.5
Unfortunately the only companies that accomodate higher powers are overseas. Fortunately, there are some beautiful options! |

That's very sweet of you, nicole420pm. Lens.com will still wait for you if your needs should change. He might even change to suit you better. Keep checking back.
