Exclamation Please help - baby blues need to be bluer!

Hi,
I'm new to lens101, and am so confused after reading almost a hundred posts about colored contacts.

My eyes are a light blue with pretty small pupils and irises. Unfortunately, my eyes have become less blue and look washed out. I'm very near-sighted (-6.50 power), so it would have to be a contact that is comfortable enough to get me through at least 12 hours. I included (or tried to) two pictures of my natural eye color.

The ones that I thought would look best (and most natural) were the Durasoft 2 in sky blue, Ciba Visions Illusions in soft blue and the Elegance in light blue, however all of them have been discontinued. I saw in a thread that someone suggested Natural Touch instead of Elegance, but they didn't look natural on me at all! I tried Focus SoftColors in Royal Blue and Freshlook Enhancers in Pacific Blue, but both were crayon-color blue. Then I tried the Acuvue 2 Enhancers in Aquamarine and Ocean Blue; both didn't seem to change my eye color.

I've been looking around and am thinking about Solótica Natural Colors in Ice and Soleko Queen's Solitaire in light blue, Marietta Vision's Impressions Colors in blue, or maybe even the 1-Day Acuvue Define (accent) if I can't find a more natural, more blue color.

If you have an experience wearing any of the above, or any suggestions, please let me know. I feel totally lost!

P.S. Has anyone tried Cooper Vision's Vantage Accents?

You wouldn't be able to find Natural Touch now anyway. They've been discontinued too. And bc you would need to wear them for 12+ hours, I'd say that Solitica is out of the question too.

Have you tried the Bella in Blue Rain? They may work for what you want. Most of the US brands, in my opinion do not pull off blue (or green) very well. You said it best, it's a crayon color, not eye color.

I also like the Adore line but they have a rather large pupil hole. For someone with natural blue eyes, like yourself, this might not matter.

Hope this helps!

Why don't you go the other way and go for a grey colour?

Default A Bluer Blue

So here it is not quite 9:00 in the morning and I see you've already got several people offering suggestions. It's hard to resist a pretty girl with a problem.

If you're still not sure what you should do, you may want to check out Lens.com. They have quite a few brands of color contact lenses and they also have pictures that give you an idea of what the color looks like. Check out the "vial" lens section. They're more expensive, but they last a long time and the colors are good, too.

Wow, we've got a Lens 101 member in Austria? How cool is that? Here I am just starting my day and you're just about done. That's really mind boggling.

Oh, and rogue81--if you hadn't guessed, good job with posting those pictures. If you want really blue eyes, there's one listed under "Novelty Lenses" in Lens.com called "Pacific Blue."

wow, you guys are so kind! and thanks for compliments on the pics! my original post had movie-poster-sized photos, so I had to edit the post and add smaller versions!

For the Bella Blue Rain contacts, does anyone know how large the pupil size is? Mine are really small, and the iris is less blue around the pupil than towards the limbal ring; I was wondering if anyone actually has them, what do you think?

I found a website that lists the pupil diameter of Bella lenses at 5.0. Millimeters, I'm guessing. However this site also says, and I quote: "Dark Gray limble and with a soft green detail brown starburt with uneven khaki patter around Iris."

That's not a description of the Blue Rain color of course, but still, look at the spelling and grammar. Do you really want to order from a site that doesn't know how to spell "pattern"?

I don't have Blue Rain but I do have the Platinum Grey. I do not think the pupil is large. There are several pics of them in the Where are the Pictures thread above.

I got them from visiondirect.

Do you know of a website that lists the pupil diameters of all the popular brand name contact lenses and several obscure ones?

hmm I can tell you about the Acuvue Defines because I have tried those but I have brown eyes not blue.
The Defines looked very nice on me and subtle--but I'm not sure if they would look garish on such light blue eyes

I was definitely interested in the Acuvue Defines Accents but was worried about how natural the limbal ring was. The Marietta Vision "Impressions" also has a blue color and a limbal ring, but I'm not sure about the pupil/iris size on that either. Did you guys find the Cooper Vision Vantage Accents to be natural looking?

Hello rogue81. I tried to find some Acuvue Defines Accents in blue, but I couldn't find a picture. This is the closest I could find. In this picture the limbal ring looks pretty dark. I don't think it looks unnatural though, do you?

I don't see the picture you mentioned. I'm really new though, could you point me in the right direction? Am I missing a link or something?

You need to be logged in when you look at the pictures, otherwise you'll just see a link in blue letters. Are you logged in, rogue?

I have a pic of the Acuvue Defines on my eyes, but I have warmish brown eyes so I'm not sure how helpful the pic is!

Those look pretty good from here, but I think a closer look would be more useful. What do you think, rogue81?

Ah well. That'll do it. Sometimes I take so long to research a question that Lens 101 will automatically log me out. That's when I start seeing those blue links instead of pictures.

Here is a closer look

I think that the EOS Max Pure Blue lenses would be perfect for your eyes because they give you the enlarging effect with a limbal ring AND they would make your blue eyes bluer
here's a video of a blue eyed girl wearing them
youtube.com/watch?v=xExuUx1dZz0

Unfortunately, like the Acuvue Define, these lenses aren't available in America and have to be purchased online
Also these lenses are annuals not dailies

The picture a little out of focus, but it looks like that eye is a little red in the corners. Are they comfortable to wear?

No actually they are just as comfortable as my normal clear Acuvue Moist Dailies--my eyes were still red from hanging out in a smoke filled casino all night =/

Well, that should teach you a lesson. You need to stay away from those smoky casinos and spend more time on your computer.

they're the same as my usual Acuvue Moist Daily Disposables, only with a limbal ring

so if you have a prescription for those and have no problems with them, you should be just fine wearing Acuvue Define

What about the redness that OV-102 commented on. Is that an indication of some contact lens irritation?

No, I said in an earlier post that I had been at a casino and my eyes were irritated from all of the smoke---dailies are very comfy
