Unhappy HELP!!! Loved Durasoft 3 Baby Blue Contacts and Need Replacement!!!
I have worn Ciba Durasoft 3 colored contacts in Baby Blue for over 10 years and yes of course they have been discontinued!!! I have tried Acuvue, Freshlooks and others and they do not even come close to what the Baby Blue's did to my eyes, they hardly changed my color at all!! I am asking for anyone's help in finding a similar colored contact to the Baby Blues, I LOVED them and feel so lost without them. My eyes are a greenish blue but the Baby Blue's really made my eyes bright and made my smaller eyes look larger. Please anyone that knows of a vial lense or yearly contact lense (I heard vial lenses are the best color wise) let me know the brand! Thank you SO much for any help! Also, my prescription is Base Med, Power -2.50 and Diameter 14.5 in both eyes....

Welcome to Lens 101, ecaldwell. I read your question and them went to Lens.com to see what other vial lenses were available and it was like some virulent disease swept over the page, leaving a trail of "DISCONTINUED" destruction in its wake.

My next stop was the color contact lenses page and I found Acuvue 2 Colors - Opaque. I've never tried them, but here's where you can find Lens 101 member jellymelly14 modeling them for you. What do you think?

Waicon Kolor - Celeste (Not Tri-Kolor!) I've had a pair since May 2010 and they are a very sturdy vial lens if you get the regular version and not the thin version. It is a single tone baby-blue lens that rivals DuraSoft 3 Baby Blue. Check this forum or anywhere else on the web to find that guy Daniel G. who sells Waicon lenses to people all over the world (I've always purchased Waicons from him). Or perhaps you can contact Pfortner (in Argentina?) and they may sell direct; I'm not sure. They are pricey but worth it. Good luck!

***Update 1/12/2012*** For anybody who is interested, wrlens.com now sells Waicon Kolor lenses in Baby Blue (Celeste), Gray, and Green. They have some pics and videos too.

Are you willing to pay the price, ecaldwell?

Before you go to Daniel G, see if you can find anything on Lens.com that interests you. You know better than anyone else what kind of lenses you need (except maybe your eye doctor, who might be a good person to have in on this process).

Have you tried those Acuvue 2 Colors - Opaque contacts yet?

You can't wear them 24/7 you have to take them out to sleep lol
but with daily wear they're supposed to last a year

Oh yeah? I thought you can leave those lenses in overnight. The only catch is that you'd have to throw them out after six months or something. Am I mixed up?

Yes, you can't wear any lenses overnight unless they were specifically made for that, like Air Optix Night & Day

Your eyes wouldn't get the oxygen that they need if you wore them overnight, plus you need to disinfect the lenses at night--otherwise you would get an infection

I found this on a site called coloredcontacts.com:

Dirty and/or dry contact-lenses from not enough blinking causes most wearing problems. Blink more and clean your lenses each time they are removed from your eyes or once a week at least if you sleep in your lenses.

It certainly won't do any harm to take your contact lenses out before you go to bed, but I thought there were some kinds that you can sleep in if you want to.

You are correct, Moneyfornothin. Check into Lens.com and see how many color lenses you find under categories besides "daily disposables."

....there are color lenses available in America but they are not going to be a suitable replacement for Durasofts

If you have dark eyes, there are essentially just 3 choices - Acuvue, Expressions and Freshlooks - all inferior in my estimation.

Default Durasoft2 baby Blue
Hi,
I am also searching for a replacement to the Durasoft2 baby blue lens. No luck so far. Anyone else have updated information? I have left my opinion with Ciba Vision several times letting them know I wish they would bring back the color even in a monthly or daily lens.

Okay, sorry. Which Durasoft 2 lenses did you use before? I searched Lens.com and found three Durasoft lenses that had Baby Blue, and all have been discontinued. Durasoft 3 Colors, Durasoft 3 Colors MTO and Durasoft 3 Optifit Toric - Colors.

Yes, they're all gone, and have been for a year or so. You'll not find anything on the American market that compares to your old DuraSofts, unfortunately. Ciba will try to tell you that their FreshLooks are the same, but they give a VERY different (and in my opinion, inferior) look than the DuraSofts.

You've got almost 200 posts my now. Would you mind posting some pictures comparing Durasofts to FreshLooks and maybe your recommended non-American brand, just so we can see for ourselves which ones look the most like Durasoft lenses?

Wow, I see what you mean. The Solotica lenses have a more natural blend of colors. The others seem to have very obvious dark lines radiating out from the pupil. That and they look like they have larger pupils.

your welcome---personally I'm not the hugest fans of the Durasoft because the color is a little off--but I like that it's missing the jagged lines and harshness of the Freshlook--I think the Topazio looks the best but Solotica Grafite is the closest dupe for Durasoft Baby Blue as far as I can tell
