I never have worn Illusions contact lenses, but I'm sure it won't be long before a former user comes along and you can commiserate together.

What do you wear now instead of those discontinued Cibavision soft blue opaque lenses?

Good, I'm glad you were able to carry on wearing colored contacts. Did you wear the Freshkon lenses also during the time you were wearing the CIBAvision lenses?

no at the time I got into the cibavision illusions in the late 80's around the time colorblends came out...I have med warm brown eyes and I found the color would blend with my own a bit hidious and "muddy" looking.

the iris pattern on the illusions combined with a layer of cibavisions translucent tint over top covered up my eye color and was verrrry natural looking up close and in all lighting conditions.

last year I decided to try opaque lenses again and Freshkon colors fusion were the best for me. THey are bright but yet natural looking.

Coopervision expressions were a no go because I have two different powers in each eye and the tint is slightly lighter in one power and slightly deeper in the other....to which it is totally noticeable. (common problem with cv expressions opaque)

I've been reading this forum for years and I think that's the first I've heard of different power lenses having a slightly different color. Have you noticed this with other brands as well?

If you loved your DuraSofts (as I did), I think you'll be blown away by the Solotica brand lenses. There's tons of threads on this forum about them and lots of photos. Just put "Solotica" into the search box and have fun! You can also get a really good idea of what they look like by checking videos on YouTube. The only down side is you can't get them from your eye doc unless you're in South America and you can't get them on lens.com. You have to use one of the reputable online retailers (also mentioned in many of the threads on here). Since they're made in Brazil and prescriptions are not required for online sales in that country, you can just order the strength you need, select a color, and you're good to go...that is, IF you can wear a lens with an 8.7 base curve. If you wore DuraSofts, you probably can, but your eye doc would know best. Better to check with him/her before you order. Be aware though, that if you're in the US, it's very likely your doctor will have never even heard of Soloticas, but should still be able to tell you if a lens with an 8.7 base curve might be appropriate for you. They can't be positive though, because fit is affected by more than just base curve (i.e. materials). Two different lenses that both have an 8.7 base curve can fit differently. All I know is, I wore DuraSofts for years, and my Soloticas fit me very well - I'm so happy about that! It's a good idea to make an appointment to have the fit checked by your doc after you get them, if you decide to try them. Good luck Cheryl!

Can we get back to luvbostonxo2's question and find out why Coopervision expressions have two different colors for two different powers?

I think it's a case of different lot numbers---if you have 2 different powers there is a higher chance that they didn't come from the same lot, therefore a higher chance of there being a small difference between the colors--usually not enough for anyone else to notice

Whenever I order Soloticas I make sure to specify that both lenses come from the same lot---even though my prescription is the same in both eyes I just want to make sure to avoid this problem

Really? This surprises me for two reasons:

1. It happens often enough that you get different colors from different lots that the Solotica people honor your request for different lot numbers.

2. The Solotica people honor your request for different lot numbers.

It's not the Solotica company that I order from, they make the lenses so that would be like ordering Acuvues directly from Acuvue

I'm ordering from a supplier, much like Lens.com--they have many lenses in stock and can easily check the vials and make sure they came from the same lot

If they didn't, it's likely they'd still match each other-but they're less likely to mismatch if they came from the same lot

Soloticas are handpainted though so that might have something to do with it, when they are printed with a computer things are more uniform (although less realistic looking)

You mean "the Solotica people honor your request for matching lot numbers," right?
