Default Elegance Opaques replacements?

Hi,
I use Cooper Vision's Elegance Opaques contacts but as you all know they have been discontinued now (why must all good things come to an end? ) I am looking to find replacements that would have a similar effect on my eyes. I have been looking into Solotica's but am unsure which ones to choose. I am attaching some pics of my current contacts, in baby blue and grey. I have green eyes naturally. I would be grateful if anyone could help.

Thank you

Hi there dvndb. Welcome to Lens 101. Your question is a common one, but I can't seem to find the answer. I wish there was a website that said "Elegance Opaque/Natural Touch contact lenses have been discontinued, but ________ lenses look just like them." I even tried the CooperVision website and it looked at me like "Natural Touch? Never heard of it."
Thanks for your help.

By the way, that picture on the bottom is very pretty.

How did you get those brand names? Is there a handy-dandy website like MaraJade wished for? I'd like to see a site like that myself.

Okay, here's Elegance Opaque (which is hard to find on line any more):

. . . and here's Hidrocharme Ice (and bonus nose ring):

You're right, they do look pretty similar. The Elegance lenses do look a little bluer to me though.

That's a very pretty girl in that picture. Too bad she's wearing all that hardware. It doesn't enhance her beauty as much as the contact lenses do.

Actually I rather like the piercings, they make her look more unusual-and at least they're not as permanent as a tattoo--I am finding out the hard way that getting those babies lasered off suuuuucks =(

but anyway--I think waicon grey or magic top grey are probably a good alternative
Ice is very nice but it is hard to predict the EXACT color it will be on you
Solotica Ice is unique in that it looks like just a cloudy white lens, when you put it on it mixes with your natural color to produce the effect--so it will lean more grey, blue, or greenish depending if your eyes are blackish brown, red brown, or yellow brown
The waicons and magic tops have a design printed on them so it is easier to predict the color
I still prefer the Soloticas though, they look more natural

Here is a pic of Waicon Trikolor greys

Thank you for that contact lens review. Do you speak from personal experience with the lenses you mentioned?

I have the Waicon Basics in Blue Grey

They are gorgeous in my opinion, in some lights the grey stands out more, in others the blue

Personally I think that grey contacts that lean blue or green are more natural--because in real life people usually don't have 100% grey eyes

This is very true, but it gets a little frustrating when you ask someone what color they eyes are and they say "well, most of the time they're blue, but when I'm in bright sunlight they're kind of a green color. When I get mad they kind of flash a greyish blue, except on Wednesdays--"
"Never mind. Forget I asked."

Lol I know, eye color doesn't really 'change' it's just that different lighting brings out different tones
Or it could be influenced by what you're wearing--for example if I wear blue with the Waicon Blue Greys they look more blue toned

The best way I can describe it is Waicons look like natural colored eyes that don't really stand out from the crowd--Soloticas look like beautiful colored eyes, the kind that stand out---both look natural but to me the Soloticas are prettier

frankly when your buying opaque lenses, natural eye color and skin tone can affect a picture. Its def a personal choice in what opaque lenses to choose...No manufacturer know this will actually make a recommendation becasue they look different on everyone.

agreed overall i think waicon trikolor opaque lenses have the best effect being vibrant enough and opaque enough to cover up brown eyes. The effect of the brown eye showing up through the iris is totally ugly and looks like lizard eyes.

So when you're shopping for colored contact lenses, should you bring a suitcase with a couple of different outfits to check how they effect the color of the lenses?

Umm well I can't buy contacts that are available in the states so that would require a plane ticket lol

But I would recommend researching the hell out of it before you make your choice--there are many pictures and reviews from people of all different complexions in different lighting situations

Yes, that happens too, making the question of "what color are your eyes?" even more complicated to answer.
