Default Is the Blue-Eyed Blonde Look Overdone?

A girl with brown eyes and blonde hair asked what color she should change her eyes to with colored contacts. Someone suggested she should go with another dark color, otherwise she'd just blend in with all the other blue-eyed blondes out there.

What do you think of brown-eyed blonds? Boring or unique?

Here's a picture I found of a young lady with blonde hair and brown eyes, and I hope they're both her natural color.

This little girl is adorable, and she reminds me of one of those "Precious Moments" dolls. Also, the actress Poppy Montgomery has blonde hair with brown eyes, and it is gorgeous. Also, Paris Hilton's natural brown eyes look much nicer than those blue contacts she wears. She has recently been shown in some pictures without the contacts, and she looks better, in my opinion.

Wow, you are so right about this little girl looking like she's from "Precious Moments."

Yes, that Poppy Montgomery person is quite attractive . . . for someone named "Poppy." It was bit of a challenge finding a picture of her, because I wanted a picture that showed her brown eyes, and one that was, shall we say "family friendly".

And of course, we have Paris. So that's Precious Moments, Poppy and Paris.

And, model Heidi Klum, actress Bridgette Nielson, and I will add more as I think of them.

Looks like Poppy drooled on the front of her dress. Seriously, What do I think of brown-eyed blonds? That they are not naturally blond. Actually, first person that comes to mind when I hear the words brown eyed blond, is . . . Britney Spears!

Well, catt. I was hoping this moment would never come, but you've forced my hand.

Below, as you can see, is a giant picture of Brittney Spears with brown eyes and blond hair. You made me do a Google image search for Brittney Spears!

You're probably right that it's not her natural hair color. In this picture/billboard, you can see her brown eyes quite clearly.

Do you suppose that little girl pictured above is a natural blonde?

I grew up knowing many children who were natural brown-eyed blondes. As they got older, maybe their hair darkened, but their eyes were always brown. In the community I grew up in, there were many Italian Americans. People of Sicilian descent often have blonde hair and many have blue eyes, although some have brown eyes as well. It was quite common where I grew up in the Northeastern US.

Thanks for answering so fast, ziggy.

I too have friends with dark hair who have pictures of themselves as tow-headed kids. I didn't know that Sicilians can have blonde hair, either. Thank you for such a thoughtful, informative post.

Thank YOU. And, I can think of many Hollywood blondes with blue eyes that look perhaps a little severe against their skin, even if it IS their natural eye color. Now, these women are beautiful; I just don't care for their eye color very much: Nicolette Sheridan, Glenn Close, Cameron Diaz, Heather Locklear, Michelle Pfeiffer, Charlize Theron, Sarah Jessica Parker, for example. If I didn't wear dark contacts, my eyes would look like that, and I don't like the effect, even moreso when my skin is tanned. I am also not at all attracted to men with the blonde/blue eyed look if their eyes are light blue, especially against a tan, it just looks creepy to me. However, my opinion is just that, my opinion, and others may feel different. I can also think of some blonde celebrities with DARK blue eyes that look great, because unless you look really up close, you can't tell if their eyes are blue, hazel or brown; it's just an adorable look on them. They are Jennie Garth, Cheryl Ladd, Drew Barrymore, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Eve Plumb, and I'm sure there are many others. I just happen to LOVE dark eyes, no matter what the color. But to get back on topic, yeah, I think the blonde/blue eyed look is seriously overdone, but only when they are light blue eyes, lol.

Thanks for your input, ziggy62. All those celebrity names are going to help people find Lens 101 in searches.

It's interesting that you should mention Eve "Jan Brady" Plumb. I never really noticed her eye color before.

Have a good one.

Here is what I mean by light blue eyes versus dark blue ones.

Light blue- kind of scary on these people.

Dark blue - more innocent looking, sometimes look brown from far away.

And my fave combo. A reason why blondes with brown eyes shouldn't wear blue contacts. They already have one of the most gorgeous combinations, and I think they are even rarer than brown hair with blue eyes. Oh, and maybe I should mention that my husband has dirty blonde hair and brown eyes, so yes, I am partial, lol.

Default Great Thread

Wow, this is a very active thread we have here.

It's probably the best-looking one on the whole site. Look at all those beautiful brown-eyed blondes.

What's with that blue-eyed girl in the purple dress with the cigarette? Is that Courtney Love? That girl is not taking care of herself.

The rest of the girls look really good though. Really good.

But most of these people have fake hair color. You have to think about what their natural hair color is first. Alot of these women bleach their hair blond.

That's probably true. I don't think Eve "Jan Brady" Plumb colored her hair, though. We watched her grow up on television and she had blonde hair from the start.

Does anybody know if any of these other ladies are natural brown eyed blondes? I'm told that you can tell a person's true hair color by looking at their eyebrows. Can anyone confirm or bust this myth?

I think the thing about the eyebrows is pretty accurate in most czses. But since we are talking about the blonde-blue eyed look being overdone, it would probably apply whether or not the girl was a natural blonde. I think the girl in the upper right hand corner (I forget her name, but she is Paris Hilton's aunt) is a natural blonde with brown or hazel eyes, although some websites said she has blue eyes, but looking up close, you can tell that they are NOT blue. I think Heidi Klum is a natural blonde too, although I am not certain about that one. Also, many girls both dye their hair AND wear blue contacts, like Paris Hilton herself. After being a dyed blonde for so many years, I went back to my natural brown color (with touch ups just to cover the gray, lol). But in real life, I grew up with friends who had natural blonde hair and brown eyes, and they looked really cute.

Yeah, I think the phrase "overdone" implies the artificial modification of hair and eye color to achieve that "perfect" blue eyed blond look.

Me, I honestly prefer brunettes . . .

I had always heard that you could tell a woman's natural hair color by looking at her eyebrows. However, I knew a guy in school who had blonde hair and red eyebrows, if you can believe that. I knew him for years and his hair has always been that color. So I guess the eyebrow thing is not 100% fool proof.

It seems like almost all the ladies in this picture have brown eyebrows. This is prety difficult. It reminds me of a conversation between teenagers I heard in a play:

Boy: Why don't you get real?
Girl: We are real!
Boy: Yeah? Then how come it takes you two hours every morning just to look "natural"?

Here's Poppy again. Look at this picture. Do you notice a few brown strands on her shoulders? Does that mean she's not a real, natural blonde?

That's what it looks like to me. Her roots look dark as well. So much for the brown-eyed blonde look. It's a good look that she felt she needed to create, I suppose. It works, too.
