If someone wants to just change their eye color without getting prescription contact lenses, what brand would you recommend?

I was under ther impression that you needed a prescription for any type of contact lens -- at least here in the United States.

You are correct, Catt. You need a prescription for any type of contacts you want to buy. Even if you don' t need any correction, you still need to get contacts that fit correctly, and that's another function of a prescription. It not only gives the corrective numbers, but the size (diameter and base curve) as well. Don't buy contact lenses from anyone that doesn't ask for a prescription.

If I would buy contact lenses online, how would I know it would fit me? I haven't tried to buy eye contacts before. Does it have standard sizes or something like that? I would appreciate some information about this.

That's what a prescription is for. You go to your eye doctor and she will measure your eyes and give you your prescription. Then when you order online they will ask you for your prescription and you'll have it right there beside you. You'll need the diameter, which is how wide the lenses need to be, and the base curve, which is essentially how curved they need to be. If you have your prescription from your doctor you can't go wrong.

Right you are, Juicer. You need your prescription (at least here in the United States) in order to get even "plano" contact lenses with no prescription power.

Another thing to be aware of is that if you try and send a fake prescription, you'll be busted because the contact lens company will call your eye doctor to confirm. Besides that, you wouldn't want to just make up some base curve and diameter numbers. What would be the point of getting contact lenses that don't fit?

Wearing contact lenses (regardless of how you obtain them) without a prescription is almpst as foolish as a company that will sell you them to you without a prescription. Please see a doctor and get fitted properly even if you do not need any type of vision corrrection.

This should not even be a topic of debate.

I agree wholeheartedly, barneybeans. Too many people take wearing contact lenses lightly. These little doodads are medical devices, not just gimmicks.
