which contact lens has the most natural color?
Wow. Those are really huge pictures. I actually can't look at them because I feel like you're standing right in front of me, Mehoolio. It makes the contact lenses easier to see, but the pictures are weird to look at.
Are you asking mehollio, the guy who's in all these giant pictures? I think he's asking you which one has the most natural color.
Me, I think the FreshLook ColorBlends look the best, while the Waicon Basic shows a dark pattern on the lenses that doesn't look very natural. I wonder if it's just because the other pictures are slightly out of focus while the picture with the Waicon Basic lenses is sharp? |
yup Waicon looked a bit strange to me...like a higher version of EXPRESSIOn lenses...so I do not recommend wasting $ on that...I like Freshlook..for the price it works well for me. But hands down SOLOTICA
I got one from Amazon and now another one...addicted is what I am and do not know how to post pics yet.![]() |

What are "mels"? I've seen that term before, probably in this thread, but I don't know what it means. Thanks. |

hi there, ok i have NC Mel and Ice and hidrocore Ocre. on my brown eyes Ocre looks this beautiful honey hzel, sooo natural..then Mel+melon green..kinda this beautiful natural greeny color.....Ice on me looks blue gray.....the guy i boughtthem from on amazon explained every color and took his/her time to email me pics of costumers and thats how i made my decision which i a hapy with> Next step is Quartzo......blueish (ice is Ice blue).
ok i use clearcare to clean them, use systene at night b4 i sleep and use Mini drops to lubricate them here and there while wearing them sothat way they stay lubricted and I can tolerate them well. Also I have been wearing prescription ontacts for ever so i think my eyes are desensitized. Ask the vendor on Amazon to send u emails (i think they r called Colormyeyes...and they also send u mini drops for them). I have dark brown eyes and my Ocre=Honey hazel ice=Blue gray..light one Mel=beautiful green melon green ![]() Hope this was helpful ![]() i am in love with them. I was wstong $ on Freshlook where I had to trow them away frequently and the lens looked semi un natural..these ones last me a year:0 |

Thanks for clearing up that "mels" thing, ReTina. It's also good to see that Mel Gibson is still handsome even with a little gray on his chin.

You're welcome. Yeah, that Mel Gibson is a handsome man. It's a shame about his latest relationship troubles, though.

I did a search and to my disbelief, there is nothing like www.solotica.com on the Internet. All I found are a few web sites that sell all kinds of contacts, and usually when I found the Solotica Mels they were also called "honey," so I think you're right.

), but if you are looking into buying the Mel colored contacts you will probably have to know that they are known as the color "honey" and not "green" because if you buy the "green" ones you will get a completely different color. Below are all the available colors for Solotica NC, hidrocore, and hidrocharme. (excluding the new 2010 color Icemint): |

How do you get "mel" from "honey"? Should Lens 101 members who are married start calling their spouses "Mel?"

Oh, speaking of "bigger than life" . . . hey, Mehoolio. Do you think you can go back and make those pictures you posted a bit smaller, maybe 25% their current size? When I come to this thread I have to wait for the pictures to load, and then I have to keep scrolling down past all those handsome pictures to get to the bottom where I can reply. It takes a long time. |

So would people in the United States or Europe have a problem ordering contact lenses from this Brazilian distributor? For those of you who are a bit rusty in your Latin initialisms, here's what Answers.com has to say: "Q.E.D. is an initialism of the Latin phrase quod erat demonstrandum, which means 'that which was to be demonstrated'. The phrase is traditionally placed in its abbreviated form at the end of a mathematical proof or philosophical argument when that which was specified in the enunciation, and in the setting-out, has been exactly restated as the conclusion of the demonstration. The abbreviation thus signals the completion of the proof." |

You do need to watch Customs Duties and Import Taxes where they are applicable (e.g. EU). That said, it will be easier, if more expensive, to find a local seller who can supply, rather than jump through a lot of hoops buying from a far off country, especially if things go pear shaped. knotlob |

Thank you also for the new expression. I've never heard of things going "pear shaped" but I'm going to see if I can work that expression into casual conversation. Life has a purpose again! |

I agree with not wanting to go through hoops to order from sellers from outside US. I did that from a Brazillian site and got the wrong lenses. I finally found a realiable US vendor that I have been buying my SOloticas from and boy it feels good to get my emails answered right away by someone who speaks English well
I wont ever buy from a foreign site again. Besides, this way it takes 3- 7 days to get my Soloticas vs 3 weeks! |

That's interesting that you say that, meehoolio. I've heard that Solotica lenses are the be-all and end-all of all contact lenses. So you say that they're uncomfortable to wear?
I think every ones eyes are different, some have different tolerance level and dryness level as well, the SOloticas are thicker than Freshlooks and Acuvues so some people dont like that and think they are not comfortable, I use Optive drops with mine and have no issues but I think you have to try to see what works.
As far as the colors, the lens is superior in my opinion (again I love my Freshlooks as well). But as far as comfort, just try them ![]() |

ah a tough one, ok Soloticas have amazing colors, and they look natural on..the pattern on them meshes with your own eye color and looks amazing. they have ranges of hazel green and Blue grays and blue greens that no other lens in my opinion has achieved.
Now they are thicker, so not as comfortable as Freshlooks. And they are not disposable so if you lose one or damage it you have to buy new one. Now the Freshlooks are disposable, if I lose them i have a box full of them, they are super super comfortable and thin. They look great at night, during the day you can see the pattern on the eye and in photographs you can see the thick pattern on the lens. When I wear my SOlotica NC Mel, no one can tell I am wearing lenses. Even in pictures it comes out amazing! |

There's one more comparison: price.
Of course, prices will vary depending on where you buy them, but I did a little sniffing around and found Solotica lenses are about a hundred US dollars for a pair. Meanwhile, a year's supply (five boxes) of FreshLook ColorBlends comes out to $135. BUT . . . you have to pay the hundred dollars up from when you buy Soloticas, and FreshLook ColorBlends come six lenses to a box, which will only cost you about $30. So if paying $30 for your first box of contacts is more palatable to you than paying a hundred dollars for your first pair, then ColorBlends are for you. |

Hello, I like all of them. Grey looks great on you, and I think an olive green would look great also. As an entertainer I would use your third choice. They are more noticeable.
Are you wearing double lenses on the waicon basic? I have not seen those, only the the tri-colorlenses. Where can I find the basic color ones? Have great day |

"Double lenses"? As in two lenses in each eye?

My vote is for picture number 2, the rest look really obviously fake to me, and I think the second pic is definitely the most flattering and doesnt pop out like "BAM LOOK AT MY COLOURED LENSES", but still gives a nice colour change.
What an interesting way to describe that look, kbbrake. I know exactly what you mean. Some people wear contacts for just that reason, but most people would prefer to avoid that look.

I'm saying I don't mind if people know that I'm wearing coloured lenses because theyre a really unique colour, or mismatched. I don't go out of my way for fake looking lenses. The eyes are a very important feature that express so much, and it can be just flat out creepy trying to talk to someone that looks like they have opaque stickers on their eyes lol. |

So you like snakes, but that doesn't mean you'll buy contact lenses to look like one, am I right? I think that's an understandable policy. One might get carried away.

Yeesh. Some people just can't get enough attention.
Then there are those people who want to change the color of their eyes, but they want it to be a subtle change. |
