Default Cover up dark brown eyes - Waicon or Solotica or B&L

Hi Guys,

I have very dark brown eyes and have always fancied having either grey, blue or green eyes. I have tried freshlooks and they fail big time.
Im really keep on Waicon or Solotica or even Bausch and Lomb.
However what would be your advice?

I mean Waicon are pretty hard to come by, I've contacted the manufacturer (not replied yet) and have scoured them web for sellers/sites (LEGIT ones) but to no avail. I am willing to pay for the genuine article but I want a reliable source. I love the look of the grey & blue & green.

As for Solotica I absolutely love the look of the Ice colour they do but I fear they may look just a tad bit pale or end up being completely masked by the brown colour of eyes. Im aware Amazon sell them but are there any legit websites i.e approved etc.

As for Bausch and Lomb Im aware they do a platinum which looks nice or even the Jade colour they do.

Freshlooks and Colourvue fail on my eyes.

If you guys could help that would be fab!

Thanks

Hi, i saw your message, If you looking to cover up your dark brown eyes, you could go with "clearly colors" they mask the dark color. They are not to natural looking in photos, but if your just out and about, they look pretty sweet. very vivid and bright. They have blue and green. I have aqua ones. I made a post with a photo in the "colored contacts" section. Just search for clearly colors and you should find it. The photo, if you find it, will look goofy. I was looking directly info bright light and they are very fake looking. They don't look "that" fake Normally.

I saw that picture you posted here Deejayt. It looks pretty good, but you're right. They don't look very natural up close and brightly lit. Would you be willing to post another picture in a more natural setting?

Here's a link to that picture for anyone else who would like to see it.

Here are 3 pictures of me that were taken at a bar. So I think they give you a good idea what they might look like from afar? I don't know though since I can't see myself from to far away! lol When I look in the mirrow I think they look pretty cool! lol The last time I wore them out, a guy friend of mine who knows my real color, and knew they were fake, kept saying how hot they looked.... lol (he may have had to many drinks)

Nice pictures, Deejayt. I like the color, but the pattern is a bit severe for me. I've never met anyone that had those dark "spokes" in their blue eyes

As for your friend, maybe he was hoping you may have had too many drinks.

By the way. I did a search for a song with "blue eyes" in the title, and I had no idea how many artists have covered this song.

Just think. There are millions of youngsters out there who don't know that this song was originally performed by The Who. That's so sad . . .

I'm going to have to agree with Teddi about the dark spokes on this one. Those show up very plainly in bright light.

Hey look. Twins!

You look great in all the pictures, sproutjps. Thanks for sharing them with us.

For your dry eyes, I found an article that suggests Restasis eye drops, wraparound sunglasses to keep out wind and dust.
Foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acid are good for many things, but they can also help your eyes stay moist. Omega-3 is found in fish such as salmon, sardines, and herring. Fish oils such as cod liver oil can also help.

Aww, she's cute, and she looks like her mama. I guess she's okay with having brown eyes if she doesn't use the gray contacts very much.

That's not necessarily good news for our sponsor, but maybe when she gets a little older she'll appreciate gray eyes a little more.

Our sponsor would probably like for you to wear the ColorBlends, too, since they don't sell Soloticas.

What do you mean the FreshLooks "fail big time"? Do they look fake?

You may want to go to the Vial Contact Lens section of Lens.com. They have some really nice contacts there and like the Soloticas, they will last a year and will probably save you money. Go to http://www.lens.com/contact-lenses/department101.asp and compare colors and prices. Then let me know what you decide to do.

i still think Waicon looks more dramatic but less natural compared to Solotica. Even though I love the pics posted, I would go with Soloticas rather than Waicons.

Wink New pics, of old colorblends, and new Waicons

Just wanted to share, the difference in the colorblends and Waicons.
I love the way these Trikolor waicon gray contacts really change up my look.
I used to wear the colorblends in gray, and yes, they are nice contacts, but I personally feel the Waicon's are a more dramatic beautiful look!

Pic of me in glasses, colorblend contacts
other pic, waicons
and then, natural eyes

Default Looking Good

First let me say, sproutjps, that you look beautiful in all of your various forms.
Secondly, I really like those ColorBlends. I had no idea they blended so many colors in such a complex pattern.

Third, I'm curious as to why you'd wear contacts and glasses at the same time. Isn't the point of contact lenses to avoid wearing glasses? Even if the contacts are just colored, why hide them behind glasses? Don't get me wrong, the glasses look great on you too, but why both?

Wink Answer to the question, of Why!!

Well, when I first started wearing the colorblends, they could not put my RX in the lenses, they just only offered it in certain colors of the contacts.
And, being that I only cared for the gray, I just said, I would take the plano lenses, and get my glasses to help me see better, at night, while reading, and ect..

And Thank You Very Much, on the compliment!
I would like to put one of the different lenses in each eye, so that you can see the difference side by side!!
Maybe, sometime this week, I might do that!!

Default I Love This Thread

It sure was a treat to scroll down to the bottom of this thread today. It's filled with beautiful women! Thank you all for putting your pictures up. Form threads are so much nice when you've got pictures in them. A special shout out to sproutjps for sharing all your different looks with us. If I had to pick one I'd have to say that I like the ColorBlends the best.

Speaking of which, hey sproutjps?
Can you get your FreshLook ColorBlends in your prescription now? You said you couldn't get them in your prescription when you "first started wearing them." How about now?

I don't know what sproutjps' prescription is, but according to Lens.com they come in powers from -8 to +6, and for those of you with astigmatism, you have to option of buying FreshLook ColorBlends Toric with powers ranging from -4 to 0.

Thumbs up Solotica, Waikon, and B&L Platinum!!!

Hey everyone, I just got my Solotica Natural colors "Quartzo's" and I also got the B&L Platinum, and the Waikon green lenses!!
: )
I wanted to let ya'll know, lensmarketplace.com, is a great place, this is where I have ordered my lenses, except for the Platinum ones, I got those from visiondirect.co.uk, and both sites only take about 2 wks to get contacts to me!!
I still need to take pics of the platinum ones, and the green waikons, but I wore the platinum ones last night and I gotta say, I had read about them being uncomfortable,, BUT,, I gotta say, they didn't bother my eyes, as much as the Solotica's, and Waikon's do??
WEIRD....
LOVE all the new contacts I got,, although, I had hoped the green Trikolor's would look more dramatic on me..
: (
The Gray's are much more prettier in my opinion.
Anyhow, here is a pic of the Solotica Quartzo's!
Oh.... My only complaint on the Solotica's, are one of the lense's seems to be a bit lighter, and also it has a different pattern on the lense??
I don't get it??
FIRST PIC* Natural eye and Solotica
SECOND PIC* Solotica with Flash
THIRD PIC* Solotica in Natural lighting.

Great pictures, sproutjps. You have beautiful eyes, no matter what color they are.

In these closeups I can see the dots that make up the color. The contacts look more natural from a distance, but I suppose that's true of any colored contact lenses.

Do you think you can post a few more pictures of yourself wearing your contacts, but not so close? I think the point of wearing contacts like these is so you can say "aren't my eyes a pretty color?" rather than "hey, look at these color contacts I'm wearing." Don't you think? They look a bit fake from so close, but I think they would look really good from a comfortable distance.

One thing I did notice in the close ups is that your eyes are very clear and bright. You didn't use any eye drops to achieve that look, did you? Are the contacts just that comfortable?

Default Solotice NC Topazio

Ah these are Solotica Topazio, beautiful blue color. Trust me I have freinds who own this color and it looks very natural in real life. The camera just shows way too much detail that the human eye doesnt pick up.
This is a beautiful color. I may actually end up getting this one. It looks great in day light

Time to throw the sponsors a bone.

Lens.com does not sell Solotica contact lenses, as far as I know. Since this site is sponsored by them, are there any Color Contact Lenses that they do sell that are comparable to them?

Do you mean Elegance Opaque contact lenses by CooperVision, also known as Natural Touch?

I've never tried them myself, but judging by pictures I've seen, they're comparable to Soloticas.

i think yes, well...to be honest they look a bit fake in person but as far as intensity of color they are intense, as far as looking natural, Solotica wins. In real life Solotica looks amazing. Camera doesnt do it justice

Are you saying that the Natural Touch lenses that Type40 recommended look fake?

As far as I know I've never seen anyone wearing Solotica lenses, but that could be just because the really do look authentic. I think I'm going to start looking into people's eyes and see if I can spot some color contacts.

Wow. I didn't realize how similar they are. The colors just about the same, but the pattern seems to be slightly different. Now, when you say "ColorBlend's on the right eye," do you mean your right or mine?

Well, it would be your right, on the computer,, and I guess my left eye??
LOL
I do gotta say,, the Solotica lenses have AMAZING pattern detail!
I didn't realize how good they looked in photos!!
I do LOVE the pattern, just wish the color wasn't SO "Hey look at me"
Anywho....
I also wish they would improve on the comfort side of the lenses.. but,,
I do think ALOT of it, has to do with allergies though.....
: (
I give Solotica & Waicons "2" thumbs up, in my book!!
: )

Woah. Look at those eyes. And those "I"s. Six lines in this message start with "I."

I'm just teasing you, but those contacts look amazing on you. The eye makeup makes them look even better. Talk about "Hey, look at me."

You say that they're not exactly the most comfortable thing you've ever worn. What is it about that that's not comfortable? Do they feel dry or something?

Thanks for the side-by-side comparison. They look amazingly similar, but I notice that the Waicon lens has a spoke-like pattern while the Colorblends lens looks more "grainy." They both look nice, though.

One more question. I see you're wearing glasses in one of the pictures in this thread. Are they prescription glasses or just the clear "fashionable" ones? Lens 101 has a glasses section too, you know.

Thanks for the pictures, sproutjps. You're very pretty whether you're wearing contacts or glasses.

Tell me about the contacts. Is one brand easier to handle and more comfortable to wear than the other?

However what would be your advice?

I mean Waicon are pretty hard to come by, I've contacted the manufacturer (not replied yet) and have scoured them web for sellers/sites (LEGIT ones) but to no avail. I am willing to pay for the genuine article but I want a reliable source. I love the look of the grey & blue & green.

As for Solotica I absolutely love the look of the Ice colour they do but I fear they may look just a tad bit pale or end up being completely masked by the brown colour of eyes. I'm aware Amazon sell them but are there any legit websites i.e approved etc.

As for Bausch and Lomb Im aware they do a platinum which looks nice or even the Jade colour they do.

Freshlooks and Colourvue fail on my eyes.

If you guys could help that would be fab!

Thanks
Hey there Jamos. You started this whole thread and we never heard back from you. How's it going? Have you found some nice colored contacts for your very dark brown eyes?

I purchased a pair of Solotica Natural Mel contacts this morning from lensmarketplace. I was torn between those and the Ocre for my naturally very dark brown (almost black) eyes. Will post pics once I receive. This is my first pair of contacts and I'm excited. Now the waiting begins lol!!

Hi, could you keep us updated on the service from lensmarketplace? Did they send you a confirmation email after you placed your order?

I ordered Hidrocharme Mel from them 5 days ago, but two days ago, I filled out the "contact us" form on their site, asking if I could switch my lenses to Hidrocor. It says they will respond within 24 hours, but I haven't heard back from them. I'm starting to get antsy here.

Hmm....that is strange. I ended up seeing a YouTube video of someone with my skintone and eyes with the Ocres AFTER I placed my order Wednesday morning. They looked great so I contacted Lensmarketplace that evening via their contact page and checked the URGENT box.

I received an e-mail from them yesterday with my tracking number. Then I recevied another email a little while later saying that my order had shipped the same day (Wednesday afternoon) so they couldn't change it from the Mel's to the Ocres.

Therefore, as of right now I've had great service. Lenses were shipped the same day I placed the order. It was sent by registered mail and the guy said it takes 10 days to get from Brazil to U.S. That should be around August 8th or 9th. I'll keep you guys updated.

Thumbs up Update pic** & info : )

Hey Guys,, I just wanted to let ya know, that,, it wasn't the lenses after all, drying my eyes out...
I went to the eye Dr.,, and it is "ALLERGIES, AND SEVERE DRY EYE"...
Go figure huh!!!
Anyhow,, she gave me a RX for the Restastis, but I haven't gone to pick it up yet...
But, I have had some relief, with using the Oxicept ( did I say that right?)
the peroxide soaking solution, and also, I have been using Thera Tears,, the Preservitive free kind,, and let me tell you,, my eyes feel SOOO much better these days!!
But if I had to choose between the Waicon's and the Solotica lenses on a comfort level,, I would have to go with the Solotica's!
Also,, I am LOVING, the look of my Quartzo's with my tan!!
But ,, I do Love the look of my gray trikolor too!!
Anywho,,
Hope this helps!
: )

1st PIC. Solotica, quartzo's
2nd PIC. Waicon's trikolor gray

Okay, thanks. I finally got an email from them today, saying I couldn't change my order. You are lucky to get such quick service. My order is still pending.

sproutjps, thank you for sharing your pictures! Very lovely! The grey Waikon lenses with your coloring reminds me of the Arabic singer Haifa Wehbe. She wears those lenses and has similar coloring!

Not sure if you ordered prescription lenses or not. But, if you did that is probably the reason. Thankfully, at this juncture of my life I don't need to correct my sight!

What's funny is that when I was pregnant with my son I had to wear glasses. After he was born I went to the eye doctor because I was getting headaches when wearing my glasses. When the doctor tested my vision I was 20/15. So he started asking me different questions. That's when I found out that pregancy can affect some womens eyesight. Who new LOL!!

My Solotica Mel lenses came today (ordered 7/28)! I have 20/20 vision at the moment so I ordered Plano. I assume that is why I received them so fast. Unfortunately, I'm recovering from an eye infection that occurred after I used another brand of colored lenses last week. That was the very first time trying to wear them and I get a freaking infection.

I did my annual eye exam with optometrist today and he checked my recovery. It was at that time he said he couldn't fit me with lenses for two weeks. Which means i cant try the Mels until then. Even though I ordered the Soloticas I still may decide to try other American lenses and for that I need to get my measurements. Bur I am nervous since I got an infection the very first time I try contacts. Will update in couple weeks.

I have horrible allergy issues. I honestly think it was the clear care because I didn't really wear the lenses. I tries putting the right one in but it would not stick. After two four tries I put it up and went for the left eye. It worked but it was so irritating I took it out after two minutes. Since the infection was in both eyes I think it was the cleaner.

In two weeks I will try again with the other lenses with a different solution. Not sure which one yet. Since I will have to compare ingredients. I tried wearing eyeliner for the first time a month ago and found out I was allergic to that as well. Eyes were almost swollen shut.

I probably shouldn't even try again since I already know I could have another reaction. Bur being the crazy person I am. I will lol!!

Hi thecurlyfitchic

It is unusual and perhaps rather unlikely that the Clear Care caused an allergy problem. Clear Care contains no preservatives and when, after 6 hours, the catalyst has neutralised the Clear Care solution, you will be left with a saline (salt) solution of I guess the same sort of isotonic strength as in your tears. So allergies from this source are very unlikely.

Are you sure the Clear Care was fully neutralised? It would irritate if not! Could have caused some sort of chemical burn if not neutralised, but you would have been forced to take the lenses out PDQ. Maybe less than 2 minutes.

Some people have allergies to some of the silicone hydrogel lens materials, though you don't say with which lenses you had the unfortunate problem with.

I would be tempted to check that you did fully neutralise the Clear Care, rather than look for another disinfectant/cleaner. Was the solution/catalyst new or out of date and did you neutralise at room temperature? If it were too cold then neutralisation would take longer, but at this time of the year, this is not likely to be an issue .

U know i had issues with Clear care, when i got my Soloticas I was so concerened about cleaning them that i started Clear care, my eyes would get red every time. even though it cleaned the lenses super well, it left my eyes red. I thought it was the lens, then I ran out of Clear care and went back to optifree, that week my eyes were white and no irritation. So I stopped clear care and i am fine. unfortunately i have to use it to clean the lens monthly

Interesting. I guess it is a matter of trying different lens solutions then and finding one that works for you and eliminating ones which seem to cause problems.

Still getting over my infection (iritis). I've been on two different steroid drops now I'm on anti-inflammatory drops. I hope it clears up soon because my Lenses are sitting here teasing me!!

Right eye feels pretty good just waiting on the left eye now. I'm tempted to put the right lens on to see what it looks like. But, I know that wouldn't be smart. I just wanted to give you guys and update. I haven't forgotten about posting pics!!

Default Disappointed with Lensmarketplace

Hi there,

I know a lot of these posts are quite old now, but I just wanted to add a quick mention of my story. I ordered some solotica quartzo lenses from lensmarketplace over 5 weeks ago and I am STILL waiting for them to arrive. Usually I am a very patient person, but this is just ridiculous. What annoys me is that I was informed it would take up to 10 days, so I ordered them heaps in advance (over 2 weeks) so I could wear them to my friend's wedding. Well... the wedding came and went, and the lenses did not arrive.

What else has annoyed me in that communication from the company has been very delayed and rather poor. For a while I was thinking I had been scammed! After reading the reviews it appears everyone else has been really happy with lensmarketplace, and I'm taking nothing away from that. Lensmarketplace may be usually really unreliable, and I am just really unlucky. Either way, I thought I should share my story so it's out there. Be warned..If you order from lensmarketplace I would allow 2 months for your lenses to get to you, just in case you get unlucky, and are left waiting like me.

Thanks for reading,

Lovelenses.

Red face Sorry to hear that??

Hey, I just wanted to say,, that it is Strange...
I have ordered from them on 3 seperate occasions,, and all times the longest it took was 16 days....
And, when I emailed them,, it did not take them longer than a day to respond..?
Keep your fingers crossed,, maybe your lenses will come VERY soon!
You know, it could be customs,, that is holding up your order...
Have you tried tracking your package?

Awesome. People are buying contact lenses because of some pictures they've seen on Lens 101.

Now all we need is to get people to buy from Lens.com.

Thumbs up Pretty***

Cool,, that you have located your lenses!
And, what color of contacts did you say you ordered?
Either way,, your eyes are VERY pretty!
Have you tried youtube,, that is also a site that helped me decide what color to get!!
Good Luck girl!

Oh, and my Solotica's are pretty comfortable,, it's just that my allergies, and "Severe" dry eyes, kinda get in the way, of me wearing them longer than 8-9 hrs at a time.

I am going to start taking those Thera tears vitamins, to see if that helps any!

Anywho!
Have a Great Day!

Wow. I think the picture of sproutjps with her glasses on will disprove the saying that "Guys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses." She can probably refute that from experience.

I like the color of that lens, Gorluff, but I wish the picture wasn't so fuzzy. Is that a picture of your face that you cropped?

What happened to that one lens that made it defective? Was it ripped or something? When you get your replacement pair (which I hope you don't have to pay for) let's see both eyes, okay?

I have dark brown eyes & have been wearing coloured prescription contact lenses for over 15 years. During this period, I tried every single brand on the Market. Hands down Waicon tri-kolor is the best. It's the most comfortable, most natural, best quality & complete coverage to dark eyes. If you're in doubt, google pictures of a singer called Haifa Wehbe, she's half lebanese, half Egyptian with really dark eye color, but Waicon look amazing on her.

Your Quartzos look a lot like my Solotica Topazios--my twin sister has the Quartzos and they show up a lot more blueish green on her--our eyes are naturally a warm brown though so I guess it all depends how it blends on your eye--here is me with the Topazios--I think they cover the brown very well

Question adore lenses

I am in purchasing lenses. I want them to look as natural as possible.
I am medium brown with dark brown eyes. I havent seen any african american or medium brown pple trying them on for me to judge.

From the looks of it I may try the tri-kolors.. however has anyone ever heard of
adore lenses. maybe I have to search the site and posted in the wrong forum.

Please help if you can.

I've heard of Adore, they're very nice although some find the pupil hole a tad large
I've heard great things about the Adore yellows, the yellow lens blends with your brown eye and makes a very convincing hazellish green---very natural if you have darker coloring

Hi! Thank you for responding. Currently I wear freshlook color blends hazel. They look awesome. Although they are starting look very false to me. So I wanted to try another brand. Like an upgrade. Lol

Do you know of any other brand that's great with acheiving a natural look for my complexion or to acheive the hazel. ?.

That's a nice picture which was clearly taken from a website and probably taken by a professional photographer. That's why I'm so disappointed that there's so much glare in the model's eyes. I can barely see the lenses around those reflections. The close ups are a little better, though.

It's a blog actually-personally I think Solotica Mels use a similar concept with a better result

Here are some pretty good pics of Solotica Natural Color Mels

They also come in Hidrocharme which has a thicker limbal ring and Hidrocor which has no limbal ring

Your welcome spongebob =)

Aiiden, all 3 are Solotica natural color mels, since they interact with your eye color they are slightly different on different people
I didn't include pics of the hidrocor or the hidrocharme so here they are
Hidrocor is the 1st pic, observe no limbal ring
Hidrocharme is the 2nd pic, with a larger limbal ring

the opacity is different as well, hidrocor is the most opaque, then hidrocharme, and then natural colors
but as you can see, the natural colors are def opaque enough to make a big difference
Hidrocors work best with large irises, if you have a small iris (like me) it will look like you have a weird yellow ring around your iris--not pretty lol

You have a small iris? Would you happen to know the diameter? What size contacts fit you the best?

The diameter of the lens refers to the size of the entire lens, not just the printed part--so I can't really answer which size fits me best

It's pretty easy to tell if your irises are on the smaller side though--by comparing your eyes to others

These are normal eyes--if you can see a lot of white (sclera) on top of or below your iris, you probably have smaller irises.

The 2nd pic is me-as you can see my irises are smaller than the other picture--not like freakshow small but enough to bother me!

Thanks
solotica's def are better because they have 3 series of opaque lenses with different effects and theres lots to choose from.

I'm not sure if that "dot of white" thing is a good way to size your irises. If there's white showing below your iris, how can you be sure you're not just gazing upwards slightly without realizing it?

If it you still think your irises are too small, I'm sure you can get larger diameter lenses to make them look more "normal."

well obviously but it's hard to be exact unless you hold a ruler up to your iris and measure by the millimeter

if you compare your eyes to others it should be easy to discern if your irises are smaller....

Didn't you doctor measure your eyes for those contact lenses? Did he or she literally use a ruler?

Ok....I'm going to try not to be mean

The diameter of the contact lens is NOT the size of your iris

You can clearly see this if you have ever worn contacts in your life, as the lens extends beyond the colored part of your eye

In fact, the diameter means very little--that is why different lenses do not normally come in different diameters, but different powers and base curves

Okay, thanks for not being mean. Remember that this is a forum for people to ask questions, Not everyone who logs in here is going to be a contact lens patient.

That being said, what lenses don't come in different diameters? They all have a few choices, don't they?

One more question. You said "the lens extends beyond the colored part of your eye." Is that true even for those little bitty RGP lenses?

I have just had to answer that question on this forum far too many times on this forum---I am only referring to soft contact lenses--and the vast majority of them only come in one diameter--most soft lenses have a diameter of around 14 mm--the average iris has a diameter of 11.8 , with the majority of the population lying between 10.2 and 13 mm---so smaller than the lenses
