Default Denied from Lensaholics Site!!

What is their problem? Are they some superior group of people or something? I tried to get an account on there, and was DENIED! And there is no way to contact them whatsoever. Oh well, I guess I'll stick with lens101 since it is a more welcoming and friendly group. I just wanted to see all the pics that are supposedly on lensaholics, but I guess I'm not good enough for them or something.

Don't worry, ziggy62. You don't have to jump through any hoops to join us here on Lens 101. As long as you don't post spam or abuse other members you're welcome to contribute as much as you want. I've been surfing this site for a long time and I've never known anyone to be banned unless they post nothing but spam nonsense. So come on in, and make yourself comfortable. You belong here.

Hi ziggy62. So they just didn't accept your request to start an account with no explanation given? I'm sorry that other site rejected you, but I'm glad you found a home here on Lens 101. I look forward to your future contributions.

I don't know if this has anything to do with your being rejected, but I was once "rejected" at first from joining a certain forum, only to discover that it was because the contact email address I submitted was the "wrong" kind. By that I mean that they required an email address that you pay for (I don't know what the technical word for that type of account is)--the account you get with your paid internet service, like AT@T or SBC or whatever the services are in your area. In contrast, there are email accounts that one can get for free, like Gmail or hotmail, etc. The reason that some forums require the paid email addresses is because there's some personal accountability with those addresses. A person can be more easily tracked down if they should commit some kind of offense or crime online. The free accounts allow a person to be more anonymous. You can create a totally fake identity with a free account.

Getting back to my experience with being rejected--no one informed me why I was rejected. It was only out of my own persistance and curiosity that I poked around on the forum website and found some language that clued me in that I needed to submit a different email address. After I did that, voila! I was in.

Of course, I'm not trying to encourage you to leave lens101, just thought this info might be useful. If not for lensaholics, then perhaps for some other forum you may wish to join in the future.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for that specific and useful information, Blue Cat. I hope it helps Ziggy62. I'd like to echo Trixie's sentiment and let her know that she's more than welcome here at Lens 101 any time.

Thanks for that bit of info Blue Cat. I haven't heard of that, but it makes sense given the number of spammers we see even on this forum.

I guess that site is still around. I haven't heard anything about it lately. Maybe they've been ticking people off like they did you, ziggy.

I don't like their name. "Lensaholics." Of course, it's a play on the word "alcoholic" which means "someone addicted to alcohol." So a "lensoholic" would be someone who is addicted to "lensahol" whatever that is.

That's a stupid name. It's good that people were rejected from joining their little club. Who needs `em? We've got our own forum, so there.

FWIW, They deny folks all the time. The forum is policed daily to remove any trolls or troublemakers.

Sorry that your account was declined. I know that the moderator declines any
names that contain, "UggBoots" or "GucciShades"... anything that could be considered advertisement and, thus, spamming.

And to be fair, Lensaholics is just a pun. Don't take it seriously or offensive that they might be making fun of alcoholism. Do you throw such a fit when people say, "OH GOD, I AM A SHOPALIC. LOLOLOLO!!!!"

I'm sure you don't.

And, lastly, because it is a PRIVATE forum, people are MUCH more willing to share pictures.

Lensholics gets the amount of pics in one day that Lens101 gets in 1-3 months.

FWIW, I don't see the name as making fun of alcoholism, I just think that "--oholic" suffix is way overused. "Hi, my name is Mary and I'm a shopoholic, chocoholic, (Hmm, Spell Check didn't flag that one.) workoholic, needlepointaholic, Americanidolaholic and a Justin Beiberaholic." Enough already.

Hi Mary.

I'm with you Blueyedblond. That "-oholics" thing is used far too much. I did discover, though, by clicking on the word "shopoholic" that it's supposed to be spelled "shopaholic." It's actually in the Spell Check dictionary.

Let's forget about all that and go back to the subject of color contact lenses.

That's such a funny picture, Trixie. When I look at it I can almost hear the dog panting and then making that funny growling/whining sound that kind of sounds like the canine equivalent of "huh"?

Wait, first let me get this straight. It's "shop-A-holic" not "shop-O-holic." Right?

Good idea. Let's get back on topic. It seems that ziggy62 had been denied entrance to the "Lensaholics" website. It's probably for the best. As others have pointed out, if someone decided to call their site "Lensaholics" and no one stopped them, how bright can they be?

There are a lot of good, clear pics there, and some helpful, detailed reviews. I have no idea how I got approved, but I was a bit shocked to read, in their "forum rules" section, that I will be summarily dismissed if I don't:

A) promptly submit a contact lens review, with clear photos, and
B) make a minimum of 10 posts within the first 30 days of joining

I guess, like many forums, they are frequently plagued by spammers and bots "joining" with ulterior motives, and I think they also find that a large number of of users join, lurk around a bit looking at photos, then disappear without contributing anything useful for others. So I sort of understand the requirement for members to contribute so that the forum doesn't wither away and die. An inactive forum isn't much fun. When I first read the rules, though, they struck me as pretty hardcore for a contact lens forum. I'm used to the laid-back, chill folks at lens101.com!

Hopefully, you'll get our approval soon so you can check out all the pics!

Their rules are ridiculous, I think it's because they know that most people will not follow them so they can kick them out if they ever get annoyed with them

I was kicked out because I disagreed with a moderator that Jennifer Aniston wears colored lenses---idk she said she did in an interview, and there are pics to prove it--whatever I didn't take the debate all that seriously but apparently he did because he kicked me off! For politely disagreeing with him!

Idk some people....

I know! I was quite miffed!
I knew religion and politics were no nos, but talking about celebrities wearing colored contacts on a colored contacts forum....who knew it was so taboo?
