I went to Lens.com, an American company, to see what color contacts are available from Bausch and Lomb, but I didn't find any. That's pretty weird. I could have sworn I saw Bausch and Lomb color contacts here somewhere, but I guess I was mistaken.

The only thing I can think of to explain this might have something to do with licensing or something. Maybe B & L has a contract to only sell color contacts in Europe or something. Maybe someone else knows more about this that I do.

I found this article when I did a Google search for "importing contact lenses."

Some reasons why some companies will not deliver their contacts to US customers:

" *Import Duty. You may need to pay import duty on top of postage and packing costs; delivery can take time and add to your costs.

*Different regulation. They're outside the [local] regulatory framework, and you've less comeback if things go wrong.

*Reliability and consumer rights. While there's nothing innately less reliable about companies based in other countries, you have less consumer rights and a more distant relationship with them and if things go wrong it's much more difficult to enforce your rights.

*Exchange rates. The price of the lenses will be in Dollars or Euros, and therefore the amount you pay depends on the exchange rate. This can have a massive impact on whether it's competitive to buy from overseas or not . . . If you've any worries about this, you're still getting a great price from going to the discounters, so stick with those. If not, treble check you get the right prescription and aftercare."

What were these B & L sunglasses called? They should have a name like PureVision or something (although PureVision is not a color contact lens. Just an example).

Sunglasses, Peri? Don't you mean contact lenses?

I've done that before. I'm in the sunglasses section, and then I switch over to the contact lens section and without thinking I type "sunglasses" instead of "contact lenses?"

Yes, contact lenses. Thanks Columbia. Now I can't just go back and edit my previous post because you commented on it. I can't just cover up my mistake.

I'll just have to be more careful from now on.

Yeah, I find myself saying that to myself. "I'll have to be more careful from now on." That can be very frustrating when you're saying that to yourself for the third or forth time and you wonder when you're going to start being careful.
