Here's a picture of a young lady wearing Solotica contact lenses. I think they're Quartzos, but I'm not 100% positive. http://www.lens101.com/color-contact-lenses/91913-what-most-beautiful-natural-colored-lens-any-has-ever-seen.html Do a search on Lens 101 for Soloticas and you'll find more pictures. Just click on "Search" in the blue banner on the top of this page. |

When you say "mel" you mean "melon" as in the color right? I've heard that abbreviation before. I don't know why they use three letters when they can be some much clearer with five. It's not like saying "PMMA" instead of "polymethyl methacrylate."

MEL is porteguese for honey.

You know, when I look at the picture posted above, the lenses look more honey brown than melon green, although they do look kinda sorta green, don't you think?

Those contacts are the Solotica Hidrocharme Mel/Honey color. I know because I read that girls blog a couple months back when I was deciding what color to by my contacts in, lol. Here is the link to her blog:
http://www.vuthy.com/blog/2008/11/18/solotica-hidrocharme-mel-and-hidrocor-ocre/ Solotica's mel/honey color shows up greenish in brown eyes because the contacts have a yellow tint. Yellow tinted contacts in brown eyes make them appear greenish. |

You can look on the website wrlens.com under the blog section and they have pictures of the contacts at the bottom I think. I have the Nc mels, which on my very dark eyese look like a dark gray-green. I also just got the NC icemint color which looks like a light gray-green on me and I have the quartos which are pretty scary on my dark eyes and brown complexion because they are very ,very light.

I have only worn them once and the color is way to light for me. Don't get me wrong the color is beautiful but when I put them on they tend to look like zombie eyes on me. They also look very fake because of the pupil hole. Most Solotica lenses have a feathered pupil hole that looks more natural but these lenses do not. When I worn them I just felt like I was a walking billboard that said "FAKE". The color on me is like mint ice cream (if you can imagine that) they are not gray at all on dark eyes. I was told to wear them at night and they would look better but I have not had that chance yet. You can read my thread "My Colored Contact Review" for other pictures of lenses that I have.

I just received my Quartzo's and this is what I have to say about them. They look extremely real and beautiful in pictures, that it is kind of scary how real they look!!! Now in person it is the total opposite. They look a little bulgy in person, color is not the same as in pictures. They are not very attractive at all in person. I have yet to wear them all day but they also seemed to dry up quickly for the couple hrs I had them on. My mom was the first to see these in person and according to her I look like a blind person or a werewolf/zombie. I would say these lenses seem to be created more for photography purposes maybe then to be worn in person??? I dont know its just they look unbeleivably different in person than when photographed. Anyone else notice this with Quartzos or perhaps other Soloticas?

Also just to add all of those videos you see on youtube or pics you see with flash photography are exactly what quartzos look like. They look amazing and greenish blue gorgeous color. Now if you are interested in Quartzos please know they look nothing like this in person. Infact they do not even seem like the same lenses, it's rather weird.

Now, about your post. I'm sorry those lenses didn't work out for you. I hope you didn't spend a lot of money on them that you won't get back. Take a look around this forum and look at the pictures. Hopefully you will find another kind you can try. |

Thanks Nutradude. I did try to start a thread but since I'm new I wasnt sure how to do that. Yeah with shipping I spent about 130 for the lenses. The worst part is they are not comfortable and dry my eyes out soo bad. Even after I took them off it took about an hr for my eyes to feel normal again. |

While you think about that, here's how to start a new thread in this section. First go to the main page at www.lens101.com, and then scroll down until you see "Color Contact Lenses" in blue. Click on that, and on the next page, click on "New Thread." That's on the left side of the page below the sub-categories like "Acuvue 2 Colours - Enhancers" & "Expressions Accents". |
