When to Replace 30 Day Contacts

I am a new contact lens user and have a question regarding the schedule for discarding my contact lenses.

I have the type that are replaced every 30 days, but my question is this...

Is the 30 days considered from the time you open the package or when you have worn the contacts for 30 individual days?

The reason I'm asking is because I may go a few days and not wear them ( over the weekend for example). That could add up to an additional week of use if we are talking about 30 actual days of wear.

Or suppose you were to open a new package but only wear them a few times during the month.... do you still discard them after 30 days?

Hello Chuck. Welcome to Lens 101.

I have read on this forum in a few places that 30 lenses are to be worn 30 times, so if you skip two days, then you will throw them away 32 days after you opened the package. Does that make sense? If not don't worry. I've been known to not make sense sometimes, so just let me know if you need clarification.
