I heard an analogy where daily disposable contact lenses were compared to paper plates. Why would you want to use paper plates more than once? They get dirty during use and are difficult to clean, so why not just throw them away?
Do you think that's a fair analogy? |

I do think it is a good analogy K4P. You hear a lot of people asking why can they not wear daily disposables longer than just the one day and I think your analogy kind of explained that in a round about way. And lol LV that was funny and also understandable.

Yeah, you're right! I was kinda joking with my remarks, as I have worn contacts before, both the daily and extended wear, and to be honest, it makes me a bit nervous to wear them too long. I mean, what makes the difference between daily disposables vs. extended wear? I mean, you have the same gunk in your eyes, aren't both types of contacts likely to get dirty? Or are the extended wear somehow "tougher" in some way, or more impervious to the crap thats in your eyes? I don't know, I just know that I could never decide whether it was better to sleep with the extended wear in my eyes, which I've done, or put them back in those little cases, either way, it's like, I worry about what might be growing on them, or in my eyes ... call me paranoid. LOL But yah, the paper plate analogy is funny. I was trying to be humorous with my response as well. Still ... LOL yuck! ~LV ![]() |

In the same way, the material in daily disposable contacts lenses was not designed to be soaked in cleaning solution. They're made of a less expensive (not exactly "cheap") material so they can be sold at a lower price. If you want to just see better and not fool around with solutions and cases, then go for the daily disposables. If you want good quality contacts that give sharper vision and can handle a little more abuse, pay a little more for the extended wear. Make sense? ![]() |
