Have you tried clicking on that invitingly large, red button on the top of the page that says "lens.com"? They've got a pretty good selection.

Wow, you're right. It is tough to find contact lenses with a base curve of 9.4.
No offense, but are you sure that's correct? Prescriptions are notoriously difficult to read. Sometimes I think pharmacy students have to take a class in Prescription Interpretation before they can put on the while lab coat.

You will probably need to discuss your problem with your eye care professional. It sounds like you might need a specialty lens of some sort.

Of 190 eyes, 74.2% were fitted with 8.6-mm lenses, and 23.7% required 8.4-mm lenses. Two (2.1%) subjects could not be fitted with either base curve. Mean steep keratometry (K) reading for eyes dispensed with 8.6-mm lenses was 43.88 D and 45.56 D for eyes dispensed in the 8.4-mm lenses (p < 0.001).

You might want to look into getting your contact lenses custom made. It will probably be expensive, but if you really want to wear contact lenses, it may be your only option. Let us know what happens, okay?

That's a good idea, unclebuck except, as you say these lenses can get rather expensive. Hopefully, christoph13, you have insurance that will cover this. Does your typical health insurance plan cover customized contacts if you can't find contact lenses in your size?

How do you know you need a 9.4 base curve? Whatever doctor determined that should be willing and able to try and fit you. The doctor should have some kind of card or guide which tells him which lenses are available in what paramters.

Cibasoft (vial) goes up to a 9.2 base curve.
02 Optix Custom goes up to a 9.2 base curve.
I didn't check all lenses, a number of lenses (including some of the Acuvue's)are available at a 9.0 base curve.

edited to add this post is in the daily lens section 1 day acuvue is available with a 9.0 base curve

I don't know of any lenses that go up to a 9.4. Your doctor will have to decide if it's appropriate to try a lens with a different base curve.

Most vision plans are either a discount only plan or give you a dollar allowance toward the purchase of contacts. Patients who want (or need) more expensive lenses pay the difference. An exception might be if a contact lens was required as the result of something like catarac surgury.

You can't get contacts without a script. Let your doctor earn his fee. Nothing wrong with trying some trial lenses and see what works.

I second lurker2010's suggestion. See if your eye doctor is willing to give you some trial lenses to see how comfortable and useful they are. Seems to me like both fit and corrective accuracy are important. If either one of these are off by very much you won't wear the contacts, and why should you? If they don't feel comfortable and/or they can't clear up your vision, something needed to be changed, so make sure you're satisfied with both fit and corrective accuracy.
