Default Are Daily Disposable Contacts Better than Cleaning Extended Wear Contacts?

Daily disposable contact lenses are very convenient because they don't need to be cleaned. They're the paper plates of the contact lens world.

The contacts you can wear for a week or a month are more durable, but they have to be cleaned.

Is the time you save in putting your contacts in solution to soak overnight worth dealing with the fragility of daily disposables?

That is a good question.
It does seem like it would be a lot less fuss and bother to just toss them every time I take them out.

It really is not that hard to clean the 2 week disposables. You just add it to your routine before you go to bed and your done. To me, the dailies are not worth it.

There's also the ecological impact. True, contacts aren't huge, but enough of them thrown out add up after a while. I'd just as soon go through my nightly routine, which takes less than five minutes.

I can see your point.
I still think there needs to be a balance here with what is best for me an what is good for the environment too.

Lens 101 has gone green!

Your comments on the ecological impact of disposable contact lenses bring up a good point. Does anyone happen to know how biodegradable daily disposable contact lenses are? They seem pretty flimsy to me, unlike those nasty disposable diapers.

I agree, faithib. So which lenses have you chosen? Do you wear daily disposable contacts?
