Hi there, rlbowman. Welcome to Lens 101.

I searched this site but it seems as though everyone wants to convert a glasses prescription into one for contact lenses.

To go the other way, I had to do a little bit of Internet surfing. You know what? I didn't find anything. The most helpful site I found said that to convert a contact lens prescription to a glasses one . . . see your doctor. You'll need to make an appointment anyway if you want glasses. If you go into your optometrist's office and say "I'd like to get some glasses and here-- I converted my contact lens prescription on this napkin for you," they'll probably tell you to have a seat and calculate your glasses prescription anyway.

There is a way to convert it from contacts to glasses, but it is not precise. Big chance you get the wrong prescription out of it. Because with contacts you can't ge every prescription you need. IE: if you have S-1.00 C-1.00x 55 in your glasses, you might get contacts with the prescription S-1.00 C-0.75 x 60 because the Axis isnt made in that particular contactlens.

In Glasses you (almost) always get the exact prescription. In contacts you don't. So, to get the exact prescription you need. Get you'r eyes checked :-)

I think people come here hoping for a simple way to convert contact lens prescriptions to glasses and--as Sandistix pointed out--the other way around. I think they're looking for something like "just add three and divide by two," but as we've seen it's more complex than that.

Exactly. That's why it's best to let your doctor do the math. You won't be able to buy the contact lenses without a doctor's prescription anyway.
