    Question NCLE Study Material

    Hi Optidonn,

    On a different forum, you mentioned these 3 items to use for studying the NCLE. Since they are not cheap, which 2 out of the 3 would you say are a must buy for someone with no experience in fitting contacts?

    Please list:
    #1 for the best
    #2 for second best

    Thank You!

    Both books are great. The tapes you could probably hold off on. The books can also be used for advanced certifications and for refrence. You really get your money's worth with them. The tapes are a little more basic. Sometimes I find them used on line, I will let you know if I find any of them.

    Great To see you here!!

    I love the Contact Lens Manual it is a great reference book and it helped me pass my NCLE. You can order it through the contact lens society I would suggest giving them a call rather than ordering online. They sell it for $89.00 but if you call them and hagle a little they will give it to you for $79.00. Thats what I did and it was one of the best purchases I have ever made.

    Now, for the rest of us, what's an NCLE?

    Let me guess. The National Contact Lens Exam?

    Great. Now how about coming up with your own answer? "Reference" is even misspelled the same way. (See post # 2)

    Hi,
    I have been using the Contact Lens society of America "Test Review" for contact Lens Technicians.
    I also have the CLRE Secrets study guild.
    Does anybody think these are both good for the NCLE exam?
    Thanks,
    Nietzbay

    Apparently so. For 39 dollars you can get:

    200 sample questions and answers to help prepare you for the contact lens exams;
    Helpful tips on taking tests;
    A list of recommended reference materials;
    A glossary of terminology; and

    That sounds like some very thorough preparation. I wish I had study materials like that when I was in college.

    Most states have state exams for eye care professionals, but then you may only be allowed to practice within that state. Passing the national exam allows you to practice in all afilliated states. A portable diploma, if you will.

    Did eyecaramba correctly guess what "NCLE" stand for? Did he win a prize?

    From what I've been able to find in my five minutes of Internet research, "NCLE" stands for the "National Contact Lens Examiners [which] certifies those ophthalmic dispensers who fit and work with contact lenses."

    So the NCLE is not a test, but an organization. For more information go to http://www.abo-ncle.org/aboutaboncle.
