Default Chosing Your Own Brand

Let's say you go on line to order contacts. You see that Encore Toric lenses are the cheapest ones that you can find in your prescription, but your eye doc has prescribed a different brand. Can you just go ahead and order whatever brand you want, as long as the numbers match?

Are different brands all made the same?
Is there some difference that the doctor would think made them better for you?

No, different brands are sometimes made of a different material. I would think that there's a reason your eye doctor would recommend a particular brand for you.

Are there any eye doctors out there who can tell me if you always prescribe the same brand or manufacturer of contacts as often as possible? Are there any doctors who always will prescribe contacts from Coopervision because you believe them to be the best?
