Default Laser Vision Correction - surgery options

What are my options when it comes to Laser Vision Correction?

How many different types of surgery procedures are there?

What are the differences between them.

Thanks
Bill

bill:

really too many options to post here. if you are nearsigheted, lasik & prk. if you are VERY nearsighted, phakic intraocular implants or "phakic iols". if you are farsighted or need reading glasses, conductive keratoplasty or lasik, depending on your rx.

Harry - Thank you for the link to eyeTopics.com I added the "LASIK & Vision Surgery" category (http://www.eyeTopics.com/LASIK-(10)-Vision-Surgery.aspx) to my favorites to read in detail at a later date.

Ag - Thank you for the reply. I know there are too many options. I am nearsighted and my eye doctor recommended LASIK. How safe is the procedure?

The procedure is safe and can be done fairly quickly, but keep in mind it is surgery and it is not 100% guarentee that you wil come out with 20/20 vision and their is always chance for complications. I would recommend calling doctors in your area and finding out what percentage of patients had succesful surgery or the doctors track record. They should be able to provide you with this information and most skilled doctors actually boast about their success rate.
