Thread: Is Pearle Any Good?

  1. #1

    Default Is Pearle Any Good?

I'm not sure what to think about placed like Pearle Vision Centers that are more like department stores than doctor's offices. Part of me believes that they're good because the sell an awful lot of glasses. Another part of me wonders if they can do good work at such a high volume. What do you think? If someone close to you like your mother or best friend asked you about going to Pearle for their new glasses, would you recommend them?

I think I would recommend them to my loved ones. If they asked me "Should I go to Pearle?" I wouldn't say no. They do remind me of what emergency doctors like to call "Doc in he Box" which are those little medical centers in the mall where you can see a doctor without having to make an appointment four months ahead of time. Convenient? Yes. Skilled . . . not necessarily.

I went to Pearle a long time ago, and I can't remember specific details about my time there, so I'm probably not the best source. I went to Yelp for a store in Chicago and it got 2.5 out of five stars. If you read the reviews, you will see the most people like to rant when they get lousy service. So I think I'd go by the star rating instead. Even then, Pearle is not exactly highly recommended. There's a place called Solo Eye Care and Eye Wear that got 71 reviews and an average of 4.5 stars.

Thank you for that recommendation, Walkaway. I hope it helps somebody.

Lenscrafters is a good place for glasses. It's a bit more than a "doc in the box."

I agree, but you don't get that individualized feel like you do at the doctor's office. There you're kind of kept away from other people, while at the "doc in the box" stores, it's mostly a showroom with maybe a tiny exam room in the back.
