How are Focus Night & Day contact lenses? If possible, I'd like to hear from some people who wear them, of have worn them but don't any more. Are they a good bargain for the price? Are they comfortable? Have you told your friends to try them?

I have just stopped wearing them after many years, because I have just paid out a lot of money for some new glasses and have decided to wear my glasses more often, so am trying dailies.
Night and Day lenses have more oxygen in allowing your eyes to breathe. I wore these lenses for many years and they were very comfortable. They are also very reasonably priced (well they are in the uk ).I was monitored very closely when I first began to wear them, because they are a sleep in lens apparently you are four times more prone to eye infections than anyone else. My optician advised that I wore them for 6 days and nights, then took them out, clean them and leave them out for one to two days to give my eyes a rest. I would do this every week. If you are thinking about wearing these, go and speak to your optician, they will give you all the advise you need and answer all your questions. Good luck. |

Tell me more about this four times more prone to infections thing. Do you mean you are four times more prone to infections if you sleep in your contacts? Thanks for your reply, and I look forward to the next one. MaraJade |

I'm not calling your optician a liar, of course. It just doesn't add up. I guess I need to do some more research, and hope that maybe someone else will come along and help out. Thanks, Mickey. Have a great day. |

The clinical studies to date just don't back up Mickey's optician. I know CIBA completed a very large post market surveillance study in the US recently, about 6000+ patients, if I remember what my rep showed me. Also, I believe an opthalmologist from Johns Hopkins led the study, Oliver Schein? What he found surprised me. Very LOW rate of infection, particularly among those that left the lens in for continuous wear instead of extended wear. I have to think handling has something to do with that and patients not exercising proper hand washing and lens disinfection vs. just leaving it in. More work needs to be done on that angle. Perhaps we can get CIBA to do a follow up on that?
