Just be well balanced, and don't poke yourself with those things.

Try to use the ends of your finernails.

"The ends of your fingernails?" That sounds harder than using your fingertips. How do you use then ends of your fingernails?

What makes perfect sense? Seems to me like there's some uncertainty here.

Default Balancing Act

I'm still wonder about that "end of your fingernails" thing. That sounds like quite a balancing act. Some people have problems balancing the contact lenses on the ends of their fingers, let alone their finger nails.

I don't think Fingernails and long contact lens life belong in the same sentence. When I have damaged yearly lenses, often it has been because I had damaged a nail and had not had time to smooth it off.

Best try and use the fingertips only.

You're probably right, knotlob.

I wonder if we're completely misunderstanding psimonk's posting?

Yeah, if you get fitted for contacts, it's time to put the press-on nails away.

Yeah, balancing stuff on your fingers can be tricky.

Yeah, I suppose some sacrifices must be made. I don't suppose you should put your contacts in first and THEN press the nails on, because you'll have to take those Frequency 55 Aspheric lenses out eventually.

You don't grow your nails long like those press-on things, do you knotlob?

LOL, no, but I did destroy a pair of yearly lenses when I badly damaged my fingernails bringing a heavy box down from the attic and I caught my fingers on the door opening. It was too sore and bloody to even attempt to tidy up the nail and then I damaged both the lenses! I had spares, but it was an expensive exercise.

Yikes. I hope your fingers have recovered. At least you can still use a computer.

Yes, that was a while ago, but I still find other inventive ways to damage my digits in DIY. At least I haven't cut any off yet

Glad to know you still have all your fingers.

I saw a website yesterday that described a whole list of tools. They all sounded something like this: "band saw - tool used to cut wood pieces too short" and "pneumatic wrench - devise for quickly and effortlessly rounding hex nuts" and all that sort of thing.

Yeah, I think I may have seen that site some time ago. I think the pneumatic wrench must be a device used by tyre change garages to ensure that no mere mortal can get the wheel nuts off again when they have a puncture!

It also reminds me of the German expression when a drinker orders beer in a pub for a group of four. Four beers for saw workers - holding up an imaginary four fingers of which the middle two are missing

Oh well, who says the Germans have no sense of humour!?

That's why I carry a mallet in my trunk right next to the jack.

I'm not kidding.

Good idea ftngirsh. I wonder how many people will benefit from this useful care care tip after visiting a contact lens forum?
