Sometimes I come across people who say that you should never ever sleep in your contact lenses. Period.

How would you respond to that?

Cool sleeping with contacts

I agree as doctors recommend that you do not sleep in them. I read that it shuts off oxygen to the eye and could lead to damage.

What about the ones that are designed for overnight wear? Aren't Frequency 55 Torics such lenses? I notice that they come six lenses to a box. Does that mean they're two-week lenses?

I suppose if your doctor says its ok then go ahead and do as your doctor recommends. My doctor says to take out my contacts ( Frequency 55 toric lenses) every night to have them in the solution as recommended for at least 6 hours. Mine are monthly. Six in a box for 6 months.

I guess it's always a good plan to follow your personal doctor's advice. The one who has actually examined your eyes would probably be them most qualified to advise you on contact lens use.

"Then why post on Lens 101?" I hear you ask. For me, I'm often seeking precedence. If I ask a question like this and everyone says "No, don't do it," that would give me pause. If everyone said "Go for it" I'd probably still ask my doctor about it and say "Everyone on Lens 101 says it's okay."

That's just me. How about you? Where does Lens 101 fit into your decision making process?

yes pretty much the same. posting here also gives us tips for those of us who are not experienced with vision wear or general eye care. and for those of us that have experience can share some advice. but of course the best person to ask is your eye doctor.

Hi I2I. Thanks for helping to define Lens 101's reason for being. I hope you find it useful and I agree that your eye doctor should have final say in your contact lens questions.
