Being a daily disposable contact lens, I'm assuming that you can wear Frequency 55 Toric contacts for about 12 hours before it has to be thrown away. Is that a maximum or a minimum? Would it be okay to wear them for, say, 16 hours?

It's hard to make a general statement on the Internet about contact lens use like that. As always, check with your eye doctor. Still, if I were to give you a sort of dodgy answer to your question I'd say that as long as you are healthy and can take care of your contacts, 12-16 hours. When they start to get uncomfortable, take them out.

I didn't know a Frequency 55 Toric was a daily disposable lens.. seems pretty pricey for that.
It is designed as a one month disposable. I wear mine as a one month dispsable but wear them daily and take them out at night? Again, like the other member said, when they get uncomfortable take them out. But, I know my doc want's mine out a minimum of 3 hrs before I go to bed so my eyes get good oxygen exposure before going to sleep. Hope this helps Misskitty |

I currently were these contact lenses....but my optometrist is switching me over to Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism because I'm not able to wear the Frequency 55 Toric for more then about 8 hours its like I'm going to work and take them off right away as I get back home. Its not what I call a complete day.

I wear mine for 18 hours. i just use re wetting drops to help with the dust in my eyes when i go to work through out the day or when they feel dry. Frequency 55 toric lenses are monthly disposable contacts.

I've never heard of a doctor telling a patient to take their contacts out a few hours before bedtime. That sounds like a good idea, if you can still see well enough to finish your day. If you're working late or out with your friends until bedtime it can be difficult to do without your contacts. Have you ever stayed up after getting home late to give your eyes some time off from the contact lenses?

I did a little looking around and I think you're right, pcouturier. These seem to be monthly disposable contact lenses.

Thank you OV-102. I think ptcourier is right, too. Usually I can tell how long you're supposed to wear a particular kind of contact lens by what section they're in on Lens 101. However, these are just in the "Toric Contact Lenses" section, which is semi-helpful. Good if you're looking for toric lenses, but not so good if you're looking for daily or monthly contact lenses.
