Frequency 55 contact lenses last for a month. In that time, is it okay if you have to wear them over night only once?
Let's say you want to spend the night at a friend's house and you're rather sleep in them for just that one night than schlep all the paraphernalia to store and clean them. (Hey, "schlep" passed the Spell Check!) By the time this situation comes up again, you will likely be wearing a different pair of contacts. Will this one "indiscretion" cause permanent harm? I guess that's the choice. Sleep or schlep. I'm gonna say it one more time. Schlep. ![]() |

i think its okay. but it would be good to ask the doctor. i have the same question my self. i even read that you could keep them on for longer than one day. here is the instruction right from Cooper Visions website...WEARING SCHEDULE:
The wearing and replacement schedules should be determined by the eye care practitioner. Patients tend to over-wear the lenses initially. The eye care practitioner should emphasize the importance of adhering to the initial maximum wearing schedule. Regular checkups, as determined by the eye care practitioner are also extremely important. CooperVision recommends that the Frequency 55 Toric lens be discarded and replaced with a new lens on a frequent replacement basis. The eye care practitioner is encouraged to determine an appropriate lens replacement schedule based upon the response of the patient. DAILY WEAR: (less than 24 hours, while awake). The maximum suggested wearing time is: Day/ hours 1/ 6 2/ 8 3/ 10 4 / 12 5 / 14 6 / All waking hours EXTENDED WEAR: (greater than 24 hours, including while asleep) Frequency 55 Toric lenses are suitable for extended wear. The wearing time should be determined by the eye care practitioner. First time wearers of contact lenses should begin by following the DAILY WEAR SCHEDULE above, as directed by the eye care practitioner. CAUTION: Not every patient is able to wear Frequency 55 Toric lenses on an extended wear basis, even if able to wear the same lenses for daily wear. The eye care practitioner will determine the best wearing schedule for each patient. The patient should start with daily wear of the lenses before extended wear if so directed by the eye care practitioner. EXTENDED WEAR LENSES MUST BE REMOVED, CLEANED, AND DISINFECTED AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 7 DAYS, as recommended by the eye care practitioner. With extended wear, there may be increased risks of eye problems, such as irritation, infection, corneal thickening, and corneal ulcers. Therefore, proper contact lens care and periodic checkups are extremely important. EXTENDED WEAR PATIENTS REQUIRE FREQUENT AND CAREFUL MONITORING OF LENSES AND OCULAR HEALTH TO MINIMIZE COMPLICATIONS. |

Very interesting I2I. I think this is the first time we've communicated eye2eye to I2I.
(That was fun.) Yes, as I was saying, very interesting. I just need a little help with the chart you posted. The first three lines say "1/6 2/8 3/10" So do I take that to mean that you can wear them for one day for a maximum of six hours. If you wear them for two days it should be no more than a total of eight hours, and if you must wear them for three days, then for heaven's sake spread it out over ten hours. Is that right? |

Thanks for the confirmation. I didn't find that chart, though, at the page link you provided.
