Default Question about diameter for Freshlook

If you've read my other posts I've been looking for a dark brown or enhancer contacts that wouldnt change my eye colour too much.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I found out my long term eyeglasses retailer is now able to order FreshKon Allure lenses, they are an Asian product that comes in black and dark brown. They are similar to "circle lenses", they dont lighten your eyes much just makes your pupils or iris look bigger because of the wide diameter. So here is my question....

I was reading the specification for FreshKon - diameter is 14.2
While all Freshlook products, including colourblends (brown) which Im currently wearing - diameter is 14.5

Does that mean Freshlook actually covers a bigger area of your eye? It makes your eyes even bigger compared to FreshKon Allure? If that is the case then what makes Allure so special? I might as well keep my Freshlook?
But I've never heard anyone say Freshlook colourblends makes your eyes bigger, the point is just to change the colour of your eyes...

Any thoughts or answers who are familiar with both products?

Thank you in advance for answering. I'm hoping to get more info because Im going to place an order soon for FreshKon allure and compare the differences, they are much more pricey though.

Hi Charlotte. Thanks for posting your question on Lens 101. It give me something to do.

The diameter of a contact lens measured the distance from one edge to the opposite edge so yes, a lens with a 14.5 diameter will cover more of your iris than a 14.2 diameter lens. However, this measurement is in millimeters, and .3 millimeters is a very, very small difference.

What makes Allure contacts so special? I suppose you'd have to ask someone who wears them, which would not be me. You might as well keep your FreshLook contacts.

The FreshLook ColorBlends--as far as I know--are not intended to make your eyes look bigger. If you wear the brown ones, they may help, but none of the ColorBlends contacts are especially dark in color. What color do you currently wear?

Hi Charlotte. It looks like FaceofBoe has already answered your question quite well, but I just wanted to say that I found a video on YouTube of a young lady modeling FreshLook contacts. They have dark circles around the edges that make them look bigger. At least to me, anyway.

i just received my FreshLook ColorBlends and i can say that i dont like them already. the contacts are too big for my iris as well and i can actually see my own ring around my iris as well as the iris on the contact. so i have like 2 rings on my contacts? does that make sense? anyways i wish i could find a small contact that would cover my exact diameter of my iris only problem with that is the pupil hole will probably be small and i already have a problem with blurry vision with these contacts with my pupils being too large indoors and not being able to see clearly thru the colored part of the contact. ok sorry just rambling to myself. if anyone knows of any smaller colored contacts could you please let me know. the diameter is 14.5. i know someone said it doesnt make much of a difference between the 14.5 and the 14.2 but it actually does on my eyes.

It sounds like you can see a dark ring around the edge of the contact lens, and you can also see a dark ring around your own natural iris showing through the lens, does that sound about right?

I did a search for contact lenses with a 14.2 diameter, and the site brought up 15 different brands, but none of them were colored.

Then I searched some more, but I didn't find anything. You might want to try it yourself. Here's the site where you can get so-called "vial" lenses.

Just click on the name of one of the brands listed, and then check the drop-down list that says "diameter."

I think I read somewhere that they can be custom made to your specifications, but as you probably guessed, it's an expensive option.

I wish you well, and please let us know if you find anything, or if we can help you in any way. We'll do our best.

I'm so glad you think so, lisaeckman27. I find this website very helpful too. Some members seem to be very knowledgeable about contact lenses and glasses, while others just want to pitch in and help as much as they can. Please let us know what your own research uncovers. Take care.
