How do you think grey contact lenses look in African American/black women? Sultry sexy or phony baloney?

I got these last Friday and tried them out. For some reason they photograph with a slightly blue tint but they are more grey in person. My friend said they looked natural from normal distances. I also got a pure hazel pair. Here are my pix. They are very close up so you can see how large the pupil opening is, but at normal distances it's not so obvious. The bottom right picutre is my natural dark brown color.

So, are you glad you got the contacts now that it's been about a week, or do you need a little more time? Last edited by Lucyfur; 09-24-2009 at 04:10 PM.. |

I bought the Freshlooks plano just to make sure I liked the color. I had to wear them with my glasses though because Freshlook Toric doesn't come in a strong enough prescription for me. I like them enough that I bought them in my actual prescription. I have astigmatism so the doctor ordered Durasoft 3 Colorblends Toric (same company, so hopefully same look). I am still waiting for them to come in. When I get the Durasoft I will post them to show if it looks any different. |

Well I received my contacts last week and I swear the lady at my doctor's office is not all there. She took the lenses out of the vials and left them in a case for me to pick up after hours. Well I get them home and try them on and they look awesome. Too bad she ordered me one Turquoise and one Grey. Surprisingly I actually LOVE the turquoise even with my darker skin because it's not super blue. Here are two pix in different lights. The left eye is the turquoise one.

Looking into your eyes, it looks like the turquoise contact lens is in your right eye, which would be the left side of the picture, right . . . er . . . correct? The two colors are very close in these pictures. Perhaps "the lady at your doctor's office" thought so, too. ![]() |

You are exactly right. The contact on the left side of the photo (my right eye) is the turqoise one. I'm not sure how she didn't notice when she took them out b/c the turquoise lens itself is very blue and blatantly different in hand. Oh well...and now I've been waiting for the replacement. Can't wait! |

Cin, every colour in those pics you posted looks really natural.
Work so well with your skin colour. I have just uploaded a couple of brief clips to youtube of the Waicon colours as a good alternative to Freshlook Colorblends. http://www.youtube.com/my_videos Last edited by hot dogz; 10-07-2009 at 06:11 AM.. Reason: ad youtube link |

I have been wearing the Grey color since i was 13! like one of the other reviewers...i am 23 now, and people have ALWAYS thought that these were my real eyes!! I recently have taken them out because I had the Lashing eye surgery,..and i am going back for the non prescriptions ones!!! their just fabulous!

What is the "lashing eye surgery"? Do you mean LASIK where your vision is corrected with a laser reshaping your eye?

How are things going for you these days? How are things now that the surgery is a few more weeks in the past? Do you wear the non-prescription ColorBlends now? |

I think colored eyes look beeautiful on dark skin, they pop more. Freshlook grays look unbelievable so does the Gray. My sis is darker skin and darker hair (middle eastern) and we both got Gray and Hazel freshlooks on Amazon. They r so natural. We get our nails done+color our hair+get extensions ...why not spice it up w changing eye
colors sometimes. |

I think it depends on your skin tone. There are a lot of medium to light-skinned AA that have light eyes so it's not totally unbelievable. However, if you're as dark as Wesley Snipes and you have bright blue eyes it does look slightly questionable.

I agree. People need to be careful of the color they choose for their contact lenses. I know a girl who had blonde hair and blue eyes, and she got bright blue contact lenses. Her eyes were so blue it hurt my eyes to look at them.

I did a search online about FreshLook ColorBlends to find out how long you can wear them. There's no information about how long you can wear any kind of colored contact lenses on Lens.com while some sites say two weeks and others say one month. I guess I'm not much help to you there. Your best bet would be to talk to your eye doctor about the wear schedule that's right for you. (I sound like a commercial now, sorry.) |

"Only your eye care practitioner can determine the best wearing schedule for you. FreshLook color contact lenses are designed for daily wear with nightly removal and proper cleaning and storage for up to two weeks before disposal." There you go. I suspect you can wear these 24/7 for a week, or daytime only for two weeks. Again, "only your eye care practitioner can determine the best wearing schedule for you." |
