Default RANT - why are colorblends always shown on brown eyes?

It is so hard to see what a color would look like on light eyes, because they are always shown on brown eyes. Then the lens manufacturers only recommend the enhancers for blue/green eyes. Don't they realize that some people with blue/green eyes would like to try brown eyes? I wear the brown contacts, and they look great, and now I would like to try hazel or honey, but there aren't any reliable pictures to see how they would look on my eyes. The freshlook website isn't reliable, because the pictures are airbrushed and photo-shopped, so my test picture might not be reliable either. Anyway, tomorrow my eye doc should have the pure hazel samples in, so I will try them and post a pic here. Here is a pic of me before and after with the colorblends brown.

I know what you mean, Ziggy. If you looked around these color contact websites you would almost think that brown eyes were some kind of birth defect that has to be corrected. There are even a few posts here on Lens 101 about that. If you've been blessed with "normal" blue or green eyes, why would you want to make them a yucky brown, right? I guess we can hope that contact lens manufacturers are reading Lens 101.

I just called Cibavision, the manufacturer of Freshlook, since Freshlook did not respond to my two emails sent to them over the past few weeks. They said they definitely will take my suggestions into consideration. But I won't hold my breath. Thanks again for the reply!

Here is a more flattering before and after pic, without my Jimmy Durante nose.
Since I naturally have little hazel specks around the pupil, there is no obvious blue/green ring in the pupil hole.

I wonder how many people reading this fancy Internet site know who Jimmy Durante is? For you children who want to know, he was a comedian in the 1940s and 50s. He was best known for his large nose and growly voice. Here's one of my favorite Jimmy Durante jokes. I tried to find this one on line, but I couldn't so I have to go by memory. If anyone feels the need to make corrections, please do so.

"Some of my friends used to describe what great lovers they were by comparing themselves to boats. Some were 'destroyers,' and some were 'battleships.' Folks, shake hands with a rowboat!"

Good night Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are.

Not everyone who has brown eyes wants to change them, just like blue eyed ppl don't always want to change theirs. But the Freshlook Colorblends are some of the only ones that work for brown, correct? The others are mostly for light eyes?

Surely everyone knows who Jimmy Durante is, though

I hope the great Jimmy Durante is well-known in these parts.

As for colored contact lenses on brown eyes, like ziggy62 said to start this thread, it seems like the biggest reason people buy colored contact lenses is to cover up their boring brown eyes. They wouldn't be selling them any more if they didn't work to cover brown eyes. So I think just about any brand would work, except maybe they ones the call "enhancers." As their name implies, they're not meant to change the color of your eyes, but to emphasize the color.

Naw, TimeTraveller,

the enchancers are for the boring grey, boring washed out blue, boring hazel, and the other boring colors that you can't tell the difference 'tween

Hey those colors can now show up, thanks to the enhancers Remember the old song:
"Beautiful, beautiful brown eyes. Beautiful, beautiful brown eyes. Beautiful, beautiful brown eyes. I'll never love blue eyes again"

Here's a link to the song on YouTube, Rosemary Clooney singing it.

Thanks for that explanation about how enhancers work. So are you saying that enhancers don't work for brown eyes?

Goliath, I was really only saying that brown eyes aren't boring.
I leave it to the professionals and experienced color contact wearers about how the Enhancers work. Maybe they work well for brown also if it's lighter brown?
:-)

I have natural green eyes, and have tried gemstone green and sterling grey. They were noticably different over my colour, but I personally think they make more of a difference over brown eyes.

Thank you for sharing your observation from personal experience. Do you still wear either of those colors now?

It looks to me like the top picture in this post is almost covering up another one. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

This is my third month using colourblends. I'm trying brilliant blue this time, trying a different colour each month.
But yes, I will use those two colours again in the future.

Make sure you get back to us about those Brilliant Blue contacts. Do you have enough posts to include a picture?

It looks like one of your pictures got covered up, ziggy62. Would you care to post it in its own spot so we can see it?
