I thought I read somewhere they people actually put eyeliner inside their eyes. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Won't that mess up your contacts? Is there anyone reading this that can comment?

Hi Lollie. Thanks for responding to my question.
What I was asking about though, was about actually putting eyeliner inside your eyelids, as in underneath, like between your eyelid and your eyeball. At least that was the impression that I got. That sounds terribly painful. Why would anyone want to color the inside of their eyelid anyway? That's kind of a silly question. Why would anyone want to inject dye into their skin or push metal pins through their earlobes, tongues and other places I won't even mention! ![]() |

Lol!!! Well I think I am lost on the whole eyeliner thing, but I know I "inject" ink into my skin because I love art and other reasons but thats a whole different thread lol. ![]() |

Thank you everyone for your responses. I think I've found a way to find the female members of Lens 101, but these days you can never be very sure . . . .

eye liners have nothing to do with lenses .... but be very care full when u do it .. it should not hurt your eyes

I think the the choice of corresponding colors of eye liner and lenses would be worth some consideration for fashion reasons, but I've definitely never heard of anyone putting any kind of makeup directly on their eyes.

I suspect what you are talking about is mucosal lining of the eyes, rather than the typical eyeliner. I don't think anyone would put liner on their eyeball directly because it wouldn't stay put. Mucosal lining is done to help make your eyes look bigger and give more pop; I've heard it is a trick that photographers & makeup artists commonly use. It's not hard and doesn't hurt your eyes, and it wouldn't interfere with your contacts. For example on your lower eyelid, it just means you are putting liner above your eyelashes on the tiny ridge rimming your eyes, rather than where it is typically put below the eyelashes (or of course some people do both). Just doing a quick web search, here's a link that shows some examples (thought I don't think this page has anything very complementary!) http://closeupsinc.com/MUCOSALLINER.html

And yes, there is regular eyeliner and the mucosal lining done as permanent eyeliner, and it is a tatoo. I have had the regular eyeliner recently done but I did not do the mucosal. Regards, Melissa |

Hi Melissa/mpm1999. When you say you "had the regular eyeliner recently done" do you mean permanently implanted eyeliner? I don't know any other way to "have it done." Do you have any pictures you would care to post of your results?

I have heard of women doing the same thing to the inside of their upper eyelid, but that's not something that I am ready to try, since it appears to be invisable anyway??? |

Well, it looks like you got one picture up.
Here's how to attach pictures in Lens 101. 1. Find a picture you want to post. 2. Either save it to your computer, or just keep the page open. I prefer the second option because you probably won't need the picture on your hard drive forever, you just need to borrow it. To do this, right click on the picture and then left click "Copy Image Location" 3. Scroll down a bit and click the button that says "Manage Attachments." 4. You will then see a window pop up with spaces labeled "Upload File From Your Computer" and "Upload File From a URL" 5. If you clicked "Copy Image Location," paste it in the space labeled "Upload File From a URL." 6. Click "Upload." When the image is uploaded, close the window, click "Submit" and admire your handiwork. Any questions? Let me know. |

Nothing to do with lenses? Have you noticed where eye liner goes? On the eyes? Almost touching your contacts. If you put your eyeliner inside your eyes, it will come in contact with your contacts.

When you say "inside" you lower eyelid, do you mean the pink, moist part that actually touches your eyeball? I think we need to agree on what "inside" means.

Yep! However, I try and stay away from the "part that actually touches the eyeball"

I'm guessing these are the "after" shots, especially the bottom one. Do you see the blue on the underside of the upper eyelid? Honestly it doesn't look all that great to me. This looks better:

I've actually gotten my eyeliner accidentally on my contact before. it comes off on it's own in a couple blinks. I was really glad the contact was there or I would have poked my eye.

The painted-on purple eyebrows are a little strange, though. |

I did go through a brief period of wearing false eyelashes -- in lieu of mascara -- as (believe it or not) it took less time to put the eyelashes on rather than "mascara them into spider legs". What I have NEVER UNDERSTOOD, is the Pamela Anderson Eyebrow Look. The one where it looks like you wax off your real eyebrows and then DRAW them on with an eyebrow PENCIL?????? Can someone please explain it to me. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I know. . . "to each his own", I suppose. |
