Was Clark Kent really less handsome than Superman?
Remember the old Batman TV show with Adam West? Was Batgirl more glamorous that her alter-ego just because she ditched the glasses, or did it have more to do with the hair and wardrobe? You take the actress who played Batgirl and put her in the costume, but include the glasses, and she'd be just as beautiful. Right guys and girls? Check it out. In this picture it's Batgirl who's wearing the "glasses." |

How ever there are some ugly glasses out there. Now that you have to admit. I remember when i was little those cats eye frames that just looked so wrong on everyone. and now, to my horror they are back! I hope those sally jesse red frames dont come back either. I have 2 pair of those!

That's a personal taste, but the popularity of contact lenses itself should be telling. There's nothing wrong with glasses but up close I've found most people really do look better without them.

Well, I guess the answer so far, based on the responses here is "no, glasses do not make you ugly." That's good to know.
So if you're not wearing contact lenses because glasses make you ugly, why do you wear them? |

Well, I don't think I look like Ugly Betty in my glasses, but I'm a teacher (special needs) and my students were always going after them, as are my young grandchildren. And I always felt like I had to hold my face away when holding and hugging my grandkids (or anyone). I was tired of always having to get them readjusted when they would get knocked out of whack. I got tired of always feeling like they needed cleaning. I had dents in my hair from the earpieces (I have short hair). They would steam up during my workouts. No matter how light they where, I always felt like they were heavy on my nose and made red sore marks. Well, that's a few reasons for starters. I'm sure I could come up with some more.

I wear glasses myself and I have been on the receiving end of taunts like that but it's all swings and round abouts. I say that because I used to taunt people with glasses myself as it was the thing to do and I was weird enough with my hair colour. The thing I've noticed about wearing glasses is everyone instantly things your smart and if your glasses magnify they make your eyes look bigger which can get you a lot of male attention, it has to me.

I agree with you, yogesh. Nowadays, it's already possible to do which fashion
you want your glasses to looks. Before, it was common that the glasses frame was black and now, you could have what you want, like pink, white, etc. ![]() |

In any case, welcome, and I'm glad your glasses don't make you ugly. Would you mind posting a picture of yourself and your male-attention-getting glasses? The guys on this site might enjoy it. |

Wow, this is a really interesting thread. It's good to know that not everybody considered glasses to be ugly. There are some really nice pictures of pretty ladies in glasses here, too.
