Default Specific Lenses For Extreme Weather?

Does anyone here change their normal contact lenses when they'll be in extreme weather, like cold skiing conditions or like very dry conditions that you'd find in Las Vegas?

Yeah, I wear a more moist lens and keep protective sunglasses on in conditions like that.

I live in a sub-arctic climate and never really had any problems with it, temperatures from about -30 to -40 at peak winter, although by then you're not going outside too often anyway. Usually for skiing conditions I'm wearing goggles anyway so I don't notice too much of a difference.

I live in Asia and it frequently is extremely hot and dry. I also wear moist lenses as otherwise my eyes would get very dry and irritated.

Default welcome to TN

Tennessee has a variety of weather patterns,. We can go from below freezing one day to near 70 in the middle of winter ( this past week) anyway that is the problem here the high pollen count and variations in weather the lenses can go from sticky to dry in a matter of minutes.

I never thought about the effect of pollen on contact lenses.

Does pollen contain protein? I assume that would mess up the solution on the lenses.

I never thought about that, but you could be right. It could have a effect on the solution.

I am unable to wear my Durasoft lenses in the summer in Phoenix (very hot and dry) so I switch to the Proclear lens during the summer.

Some would wear different contacts depends on the weather. By the way, do you think their is an specific date for your contacts to renew or change?

Definitely. Do you wear contact lenses, gamblinglord? If you do, your eye doctor should tell you how often to change your contact lenses. Most contact lenses will give you a clue about their useful life span by being called "monthly" or "daily disposable" contacts or something. Is there a specific brand you want to know about? If so, there's probably a section here at Lens 101 for it.

Tennessee is a beautiful state. The Smoky Mountains are tough to beat for scenery.

Do you change your contact lens brand when the weather changes there? What kinds do you wear?
