Default Are Contact Lens Exams Covered by Insurance

If your insurance plan covers eye exams for glasses, what about contact lenses? Will you have the pay the difference out-of-pocket or is it all the same to the Insurance People?

They cover it. You have to pay the co-pay.

Yes Teddikitty, I used to have my wife covered under my health insurance at work and most of her contacts were covered under it but she had to come up with the balance.

Every little bit helps these days, right?

My I ask how much "balance" was still due? Was it like 20% or something?

I have found that with most major medical insurance you have to pay something up front, the first $100 or something, and the insurance covers the rest, or else they'll pay 80% of the total bill, but when it comes to things like contact lenses, which the insurance company can say are not "medically necessary" like an appendectomy, they won't pay.

Mine decided that contact lenses were cosmetic only and not necessary and so won't cover the exam for them, only the glasses.

Ah-hah. So has this loophole prevented you from getting contact lenses, Joe?

I'm not so sure about this, teddikitty. However, I am wondering also does this

insurance works? I have my glasses but it seems that I don't have this

insurance. Are you going to apply for this?

Most people have insurance through their work. Does insurance work? Most of the time it does, as long as your paperwork's in order.

I'm not sure I understand your question, gamblinglord. Are you asking me how to get your glasses covered by insurance?
