The Municipal Corporation of Delhi today paid tributes to the freedom fighter Syama Prasad Mookerjee on the occasion of his birth anniversary at a function organised at his statue installed at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. The Delhi Mayor, A.R.Verma, and the Deputy Commissioner of City zone, Shashikant Mehrotra, garlanded the statue.
Dalai Lama opens eye facility NEW DELHI JULY 6. The Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama today visited the Visual Aids Centre at South Extension and inaugurated the new Lasik machine today. Through this technology, patients with different power lenses can get freedom from glasses and contact lenses. On the occasion, the Dalai Lama appreciated the good work being done by the optometrist and contact lens specialist at VAC, Vipin Buckshey. IACM tie-up NEW DELHI JULY 6. The Institute of Advance Computing and Management (IACM), an ISO 9001-2000 certified company, has tied-up with the global leader in technology-based testing and assessment services, Thomson Prometric, to provide online practice examinations for the Central Board of Secondary Education affiliated schools. According to an IACM press release, the IACM will be catering to the requirements of Indian schools using contents developed under its division, Dakshankan and Prometric Internet-based testing services. Aptech programmes NEW DELHI JULY 6. Aptech University today announced its foray into formal education sector by launching degree programs in management, IT, media, humanities & social science besides diploma and certificate programmes. The admission for the degree programs will be based on online tests to be conducted at Aptech Distance Education Academic Centres located all over India, a press release said here. ``The students will be provided application-oriented education with a research-oriented approach to studies'', the Vice-Chancellor of the University Wing Commander Pratap Pradhan (retd) said in the release. Multimedia lab at DPS NEW DELHI JULY 6. The Chairman of the Delhi Public School Society, Narendra Kumar, inaugurated a multimedia lab at DPS Rohini on Monday. The computer assisted language methodology learning lab boasts of state-of-the-art multimedia facilities like virtual tape, digital classroom control, VCD and MP3. On the occasion, Mr. Kumar said that teacher-student relationship must go hand in hand with modern technology to facilitate the experience of learning.
