O2 Optix are sold in the US as 1-2 week contact lenses, but in Europe, patients are told that can be worn for a month before being thrown away.
How can that be? Either the US being too careful, or Europe is being careless. |

The replacement schedule in the US has been adjusted to 2-4 week replacement. Your Dr is the best person to decide what is appropriate for you based on your physiological needs and condition. The replacement schedule really isn't a decision for laymen to make, after all, if you ignore replacement schedule and get an infection or lose sight, who is to blame but you? I won't be, I make each patient sign an acknowledgement form about wearing and replacement schedules. Takes ME off the hook as well as Mfr and puts the liability on YOU. How much does that cell phone cost you each month? Your cable TV? Cigarettes? Alcohol? You seriously can't cut back on one of those to care for your eyes properly? Then wear glasses.
