Default Halloween Specialty Contact Lenses: No Costume is Complete Without Matching Contacts

The growing trend at Halloween is to purchase Hollywood-style specialty contact lenses to match your costume. This is a fast-growing business with an estimated 500,000 pairs of these lenses being sold each year. Last year, with the latest Star Wars movie out, the Vader and Darth lenses were hot sellers among the 30 different specialty lens themes available for purchase online from CoastalContacts.com (Canadian online subsidiary is called ClearlyContacts.ca). Coastal Contacts, the world's second-largest online seller of high-quality contact lenses from leading manufacturers, does $65 million in annual sales in 186 countries.

These Halloween lenses are cleared by the FDA, are safe to wear and can be ordered with or without corrective powers. Prices start from $66 a pair (Cdn$80). A wide variety of impressive styles are available, with the top five global sellers being Banshee, Manson, Vampire Red, White Out and White Cat Eyes, many of which are available in corrective powers up to -7.00. Angelic - a beautiful blue lens that's a hit with women - is popular all year long.

The Black Out lenses were used extensively in the movie The Covenant (released nationally on September 8) and are hot sellers. Other exciting designs include Black Wolf Eyes, Spider Web, Dark Elf, Gremlin, Machine Head, Psycho, Moon and Star, Slither, Infinity, Crazy Daisy, Target, Smiley, Flames, Shamrock, Sunburst, Froggy, Purple Kitty, Creepers and Green Reptile.

These are the exact same theatrical-grade lenses used in Hollywood productions. Consumers can see and purchase the full range of available contacts online at:

U.S.: www.coastalcontacts.com/halloweenlenses.cfm

Canada: www.clearlycontacts.ca/halloweenlenses.cfm

For delivery before Halloween party weekend (October 28/29), orders must be placed by October 26. However, early ordering is recommended, as popular styles may sell out closer to Halloween. Purchases typically start in late September and peak in mid-October.

YES! Even though they may not have a prescription they still fit on your cornes. A Dr. will need to check the fit. By placing a lens on the cornea there is an increased risk on infection or corneal damage. A Dr. must determine what fitting parameters are needed for the lens and go over with you the proper wear and care procedure.
