Default PureVision Multi-Focal For the Young

Someone else asked if there was anyone under forty who wears PureVision Multi-Focal contacts. I'm more or less asking the same question. Do young people ever wear multi-focals?

Not that forty is old, you understand . . .

They can, I don't know anyone who does, but it isn't uncommon. I have heard of younger people wearing the mutli-focal lenses.

I'm 29 and I've just started wearing them. I was farsighted before and I've had strabismus surgery to correct a lazy eye. So far, so good.

Thank you, mplsmn. I'm glad the surgery worked out well.

Your screen name doesn't look familiar, are you new to Lens 101? Whether you're new or not, allow me to welcome you officially.

It's been about four months since we've heard from you, mplsmn. How are you feeling these days? Any more trouble with your vision?

Hmm. Looks like mplsmn posted one comment and vanished. Was it something I said?

I doubt it. All you did was ask about the surgery. Maybe mplsmn is out there living life with good vision instead of squinting at the computer monitor.

I have been wearing multi-focals (glasses) since I was 35. Not much younger than 40 but younger just the same.

I guess I am glad I did. My vision has been mostly stable for the past 11 years.

It's good to hear that the multi-focal contacts have worked out, Brat. Enjoy your clearer vision.

Have you thought about multi-focal contact lenses, DaBrat?

Still no reply from mplsmn. That's too bad. We might have had some lively discussions.

Looks like out youngest multi-focal lens user is 29 year old mplsmn, who mysteriously vanished after one post.

Do we have any more Lens 101 members who are under 40 years of age and wear Purevision Multi-Focal contact lenses?

I wonder if the Bermuda Triangle has anything to do with it?

I should hope not. I just turned 41, and I'm not old.

Just started wearing them yesterday and I'm 37! It's been about a year since my last attempt to try to wear multifocals. So far I have to say that these are pretty comfortable and I am able to wear them for long periods of time but the vision is not very crisp. I will be going back soon to the dr to check them out.

Hi isevilla. Thanks for contributing to the thread. Please let us know if your vision improves after a few days' adjustment and also what your eye doctor says, okay?

Hi isevilla. Did your eye doctor seem surprised that you needed to wear multifocals so young? Did he or she offer any explanations?

No not at all. I had told them that I have diabetes and that I had been trying muti-focal last year.

You can probably look up my posts from the proclear forum.

Wow. That was fast.

I've heard that diabetes can lead to vision problems, but I didn't know that presbyopia was one of them.

I think my problem is mostly because I always have not been able to see distance but can see up close with no problem. So when wearing contacts or glasses that correct for distance I then cant see up close. Ive always had the problem but it just got worse in the last couple of years and just so happens thats when I was diagnosed with the diabetes.

Now diabetes can alter the vision as far as blurry vision when you have high blood sugars. Esp if you go really high and its not something that happens often your body will freak out and you will have horrible vision till the sugars come down.

Yes, that's a still from an "X-Files" episode, and no, I don't like guns. They go bang and hurt people.

You've got many to choose from, Lee. There's Proclear 1 Day, Proclear Compatibles, Proclear Toric, Proclear Toric XR and Proclear Multifocal. Since this post is in the PureVision Multi-Focal section, I'm going to guess that iseevilla was referring to the Proclear Multifocal contact lenses.

Those are Proclear sections of this corrective lens forum. A Proclear forum would be a website devoted completely to Proclear contacts.
