negative side effects w/ pure vision?

I read on a UK site that several people had vision changes after wearing Pure Vision Multi-Focals for awhile. These were cases where the vision became markedly worse and the docs could not figure out the cause. When they stopped wearing the lenses, their vision returned to it's previous diopter. I am wondering if anyone has had or heard of this happening with Pure Vision Multi-Focals as I am trying a new pair and this concerned me a little. Thanks for any replies!

Hi visionquest. I haven't heard anything about this problem with Purevision Multi-Focal contacts. I have a question though. What do you mean "their vision returned to its previous diopter"? Does that mean that after a person's eyesight worsened, allegedly from wearing Purevision Multi-Focal contacts, they stopped wearing the Purevision lenses and their eyesight returned to what it was before they started wearing them?

Yes, that is what I understood it to mean. The vision worsened by a couple of diopters and then returned to the original measurement (after stopping wearing the lenses.)

I doubt this issue a PureVision specific problem. With glasses or contacts your eyes don't have to work as hard and can tend to rely on them. In time without using glasses or contacts your eyes can sometimes return "slightly" to their previous good vision. I experience this all the time. Often people don't consult an eye doctor and sell prescribe their own glasses, getting ones that are to powerful because they can see even better using them. This only makes your eyes worse.
