Default Bausch & Lomb Purevision Diameter

I hear that Bausch & Lomb Purevision only come in one diameter. Why is that? Don't they know that they would sell a lot more contact lenses with a wider variety of diameters?

On a related note, can your diameter change? Can you be happy and seeing well in 14.0 diameter Purevisions and then have a problem seeing because your lens diameter changes?

I too dont' understand why some companies carry only certain lenses.. i.e. diameters, base curve, astigmatism correction, etc. I guess they feel they gear their product for the "majority" and the other guys can take up the slack.. ever notice how almost everyone wears an "8" shoe?

I don't think or know if your diamater changes but I know you can wear "close" diamaters if your doctor deems the manufacturer and base curve meet the criteria for the diameter diff.

I have two pair of lenses.. my purevisions are 14.0 diameter and my Frequency 55's are 14.4 and I don't have a problem wearing either one? Go figure. When I asked why the diff between the two vendors my doc said that is just the size they make them and meets the criteria for my eye.. so it works.

Hope it helps.

Thank you, Miss Kitty. I guess it does work to wear contact lenses of a slightly different size, but it's still a mystery as to why some contact lens manufacturers believe that "one size fits all."
