Is that a question or a statement, luvbostonxo2's? I also have heard that the anatomy of the eye is such that it's impossible for a contact lens to get "behind the back of your eye." Apparently...
It's not all that uncommon to wear a different brand of contact lens in each eye. Sometimes people only have astigmatism in one eye and so they wear one toric lens and one "regular" lens.
Wow, that must be very frustrating for you. Was it the Acuvue 2 lenses that started drying out on you?
I'm sorry you never got your Solotica lenses, but at least they gave you a refund and offered you a discount.
Okay, I'm familiar with Acuvue Oasys and Acuvue Advance, but I don't think there are lenses out there called "Acuvue Oasys Advance Plus," are there?
It says there that the show has been off the air since 2006. I would think most of the fans would have outgrown the show by now.
Besides, this is an eyeglasses forum.
Another suggestion is that the material that those new lenses are made of could be a problem.
Hello Kitty Rocks!
You may have an eye infection or something. Have you had your eyes checked?
This question sounds familiar.
Sorry. What are "semi permeable" lenses?
It's been a while since we've heard from you cyberma007. Have the Cybermen reclaimed you?
I look at that couple dancing and I can hear the Tango. :)
This is what someone from JustLenses.com had to say on the subject: "I love rigid gas permeable lenses because they give me the best sight of any other lenses. I have tried all sorts of disposable...
I found a site that said that Focus Monthly SoftColor lenses were discontinued on March 1st, 2012.
I'm glad you don't sleep in your contacts, lfirebrand. I've seen some amazing posts here about people who are very careless with their contact lenses. It's good you're not one of them.
That's a question that only you and your doctor can answer for sure, I think.
If your lenses are too loose as luvbostonxo2's has suggested, you should get re-fitted with contact lenses with a smaller base curve.
Thanks luvbostonxo2's. I don't get how alcohol can be a moisturizer though. I used to use rubbing alcohol to help my oily skin.
Yeah, that's a pretty strong prescription. Can Intra Ocular Lenses help someone with vision like that?
Aren't you glad to have someone as smart as luvbostonxo2's on Lens 101?
Hi Laura99. Welcome to Lens 101. It looks like you've posted in the right place. We can find you and help you here.
I'm not quite sure what your doctor meant when she said that you'd see better...
The base curve is the radius of the sphere of the back of the lens that the prescription describes. If a contact lens with a base curve of 8.5 were extended so that it formed a ball, the inside of...
Maybe you can just tell us what's on those pages. Sometimes people don't trust links to other sites. Others may just be impatient. Would you mind?
I hope this doesn't inspire other people to ignore "warnings and admonitions" from their doctor.
I have another question for you Capucine. Did your doctor ask you how long you wear your contacts?...
Where are the "lid margins"? Is that the part the eyelashes grow out of?
Wait a minute. There are other contact lens boards?
Ladies and gentleman, please give a big Lens 101 welcome to the Tenth Doctor, David "Pretty Boy" Tennant!
What is "aberration technology"?
I hope this clears up at least some of your confusion. It's from another thread here in Lens 101:
"PMMA lenses, do not allow oxygen to go through the lens. RGP is a breathable lens and does allow...
I don't wear contact lenses, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but I would think that taking pieces of a lens out of my eye would be a lot scarier than plucking an intact lens out.
I'm glad you seem to have found something that works. I think for most people it's a process of trial and error.
Hopefully not a lot of error.
According to All About Vision: With monovision, you wear a contact lens on one eye to correct your distance vision and a contact lens on your other eye to correct your near vision. The lens for...
Is there a warning on the package of Clear Care not to use if for colored contact lenses?
Don't be offended if someone questions you, luvbostonxo2's. Everything you've said on this forum has made...
"Most ECPs are NOT experienced in fitting RGP lenses"?
I should hope that wearing contact lenses would make your eyesight better.
Thank you for sharing your professional opinion, luvbostonxo2's. It's always good to hear from an expert.
Unless, of course, said expert is telling me something I don't want to hear. :D
I'm curious too, and I'm not even an ECP. :)
I thought I'd do a little on-line research about UV radiation and LCD screens. Take a look:
"LCD monitors don’t emit UV rays, nor do CRT monitors. Nothing can be transmitted in the UV wavelength,...
Thanks for the detailed instructions, Amanda. I hope this isn't something you've had a lot of practice with.
That sounds like you shouldn't sleep in them.
There are contact lenses that are called "toric" lenses. Those are especially made to correct astigmatism. (Which, by the way, does not get the word "a" or "an" in front of it. It's just "if you have...
Let us know how things look on the second night. Your foggy peripheral vision may be due to your pupils being dilated in a darkened room.
Does anyone know of a website out there that actually lists the pupil diameters of various contact lenses?
All right, all right. Does anyone know the answer to my question about these lens cleaners drying out?
This forum has been bustling with activity lately. I just wish this thread would get going.
That's a nice look. The mascara kind of makes the color "pop" as well.
Didn't think so . . .
How come I've never heard of any of them?
You're not trying to sell them, are you cosmeticlover? You wouldn't that that here, would you?
Hello there, cutiecakes. Welcome to Lens 101. I just wanted to make sure someone greeted you, even though I personally do not wear Dimensions or Softcolors. I hope you get some helpful responses. ...
Hmmm . . . in the one picture you're too far from the camera to get a good look at the sunglasses and it the other, you're so close that the sunglasses are blurred. However, there may be people on...
It looks like Havoc may have been a little . . . leisurely . . . in his research. ;)
Wow, sorry about that contact lens incident. I'm glad you were persistent in investigating it. You can probably find a lawyer and take the optometrist to court, but for me personally, lawsuits take a...
Thanks, luvbostonxo2's. I think you've cleared up some of the confusion as to when to sleep in contacts and when not to.
Thanks for listing those specific brands of lens cleaners, luvbostonxo2's.
So are you wearing soft contacts these days?
It is kinda sad, yeah.
I guess I'm just lazy. If I had a box of contact lenses that said "1-Day Acuvue Moist" on it, then that would pretty much answer my questions about how long they could be worn right there.
Like NYGiants, I wasn't surprised that I needed glasses, since I realized that my friends could see a lot farther than I could.
When are you scheduled for your next exam?
What's the difference between bifocal and multifocal contacts?
Neat. Does anyone know how long you can keep them in the glove compartment of your car before they dry out and become useless?
Yeah, right?
"Stop hitting me."
"Stop hitting you?"
"Yes!"
"What did you come in her for then?"
"I wanted to complain."
"That's next door. It's Getting Hit in the Head Lessons in here." ...
Those are neat individual packs. Do they ever come in sheets, like this one for pills?
I found a website that says "RGP lenses last much longer than soft lenses, needing replacement typically every 1 to 3 years."
"Except on Wednesdays." You're silly, Ynot. :D
You can borrow mine. Is Third Edition okay? ;)
Wow, what a well-written post. Thank you for giving it so much thought. Here's mine though. There are some posts on this forum that have taken a lot of heat. They compare one-day disposable contact...
So I guess the fifth time's the charm in this case, huh? :)
I've heard that here before, and so I collected the cards that my eye doctor gave me with my glasses prescription on them. For three consecutive years all the numbers remained exactly the same.
I...
There probably is more than one answer to correcting vision, but I don't think the Bates Method is one of them.
Well, it's been about two and a half years since we last heard from you on this, skatss. Has you father seen any improvement in his vision after doing those exercises? I'm not talking about his...
Yes you can. Just do a search for the Bates Method here on Lens 101 and you'll see quotations from experts.
Hi Debs.
It's possible that you're reacting to a contact lens and solution combo. There's another thread here in Lens 101 about what solutions to use with Biofinity lenses, and there are quite a...
"I'm not suggesting Daysoft makes 'unsafe' lenses. I'm suggesting their method of selling direct, and substituting brands without requiring a doctors script for Daysoft lenses, wouldn't be legal in...
What website do I go to to find out which lenses are made of Teflicon (38%) (Dk = 8.9) and why not just say so in the first place? I can just imagine going to my eye doctor and saying "I'm looking...
How about some brand names people can ask their doctor for? I can imagine someone going to see their doctor with a little slip of paper and asking "do you have anything that's boo . . . fil . . ....
Do you have any information about why custom Air Optix were discontinued?
Hello there, lgagnon. I'd like to welcome you to Lens 101. Sorry to read about your contact lens issues. How long a ago did you doctor tell you that your eyelids were sensitive? If it was a year ago...
It says here "Though it's visible on clear days (mostly in winter) from as far away as 161km (100 miles), [Mount Fuji], unfortunately, is almost always cloaked in clouds."
Who knew that soap and Clear Care would react in such a away? You should probably keep soap out of your eyes anyway.
Yes, that's a very good observation, Englishteacher1. Yet thousands of people wear contact lenses every day.
Hello? Kimnallen? Are you there? Kim? Allen?
While we're waiting, how about a picture of Karen Allen waving a torch at some snakes while wearing a white dress?
I think I'd rather be a lover than a fighter, too Sk8erBoi. I think you might have something there. It's not original, but it's good.
I learned a lot on this site, too, Garfield21. I guess you would be the expert on naps, too. :D
Here's hoping for a fast recovery and pain relief, cc(,``o. (How do you pronounce that, anyway? Is that what it says in your medical chart? :D
I looked up "Hazel" on Lens.com and found Expressions Colors, FreshLook Colors and FreshLook ColorBlends. There's three brands you can try.
Oo, yellow car and yellow flowers. German yellow flowers.
I don't know, Junior. I also don't know why anderson108 hasn't responded yet. It's okay though. It hasn't been that long yet. Believe it or not, not everyone reads this forum every day.
I hate to say it, but in the case of that young lady, I don't think I'd have much trouble finding her eyes. She's got pretty eyes and, shall we say . . . not a lot of other distractions.
I haven't used the Clear Care system, but how hard can it be?
Is there anything new to report, anderson108?
Yes, I agree. Perhaps we should list all prices in Euros to be fair. :)
Tired eyes getting dry makes sense, Trixie. I hope that information was more helpful to CLSC that what's been in this thread so far. :(
That's a good point you make there, Trixie. I'd rather spend a little more money on comfortable lenses. I certainly wouldn't want to wear cheap lenses that are uncomfortable.
Based on what I've read here, if you only wear your 30 lenses every other day, for example, then after 60 days (wearing them 30 times) you throw them away.
However, your doctor may have other...
I'll take your word for it. :D
Yeah, right? What a story. I've read a few posts here and there from people who say they sometimes clean their contacts in their mouth. Not a good idea. It's a good thing that you can't really...
Yes, dry eyes can certainly make your lenses sticky and harder to remove. Maybe when you go out and you think there might be a possibility of a late night, you should take your glasses with you and a...
I don't know where x-wing has got to, but I hope you don't mind my stepping in.
A screen protector is a kind of "shield" that you put on your computer monitor. I found a website that explains the...
