Do you mean environmental allergies; pollen, etc.? I have some allergies to oak pollen if the count is really high, but otherwise, I don't seem to have any.
I was given Soflens Aspheric dailies as a trial since it seemed that I could no longer wear Acuvue Oasys (red eyes, conjunctivitis type effect--an allergy? don't really know). However, the dailies were suggested b/c they had a good discount, and my ophthalmologist prefers dailies, period. However, my eyes were too dry with them. And I was very disappointed since I could see really great with them. He then tried Proclear and Clearview dailies but those didn't work out either. Acuvue Moist dailies is what I settled on and though they seem the best so far as far as wearability, I'll see how it goes long term. Don't see as crisp-clear with them as I did the Soflens but I have mild astigmatism and the aspheric aspect of the Soflens was great for me vision-wise. I read that the Acuvue Moist is good for people with allergies. Not sure if it truly is, but they have worked out the best for me so far. Hope this helps. It's just my own opinion of course, and it seems that each person has their own unique situation oftentimes.

Hi SueLynn. Thanks for sharing your opinion with us.

You say you don't see as well 1-Day Acuvue Moist as you did with Soflens (Was that Soflens Daily Disposable?), but the Soflens were dry and uncomfortable. So are you willing to sacrifice clarity for comfort, or are you thinking of going back to the Soflens because the clarity?

Yes, it was the Soflens Daily Disposable. And yes, sacrificing clarity for comfort. If it looks like I can wear contacts again daily without my eyes getting red and irritated over the next few months (with the Acuvue Moist), I think I might like to try the Soflens again. I just have to see how things go.

Hi SueLynn. Thank you for your time.

I'm sorry if I sounded a bit rude up there. It seems that someone responded to my posting with some spam, and then I responded, and then the Administrator came along and deleted the spammy post, but left my reaction.

Anyway, enough about me. How are you getting along these days? Have you found contact lenses that allow you to see both clearly and comfortably?

I've read of Eye Care Specialists prescribing a SofLens Daily contact lens when a patient has red eyes/irritation. The Eye Care Specialist will often also prescribe a change to Clear Care Peroxide Disinfection system (which is preservative free).

The Soflens Daily is a standard hydrogel lens and is often tried it seems when people have a suspected allergic reaction to some brand of silicone hydrogel lens.

Good answer. What if a person has an allergy to pollen or something, though? Can these measures help with that, too?

If you have a pollen or dust mite allergy, etc. then switching to a Daily Disposable lens will probably help, since the allergens adhering to the contact lens are removed daily. But it will never cure the allergy without removing the original source, or taking some sort of medicine to control your reaction to it.

That makes sense. Also, if your contact lenses have a tendency to trap allergens, it's a good idea to replace them often.

Thank you for answering my question, Knotlob. I can see how changing your contacts every day can minimize your exposure to allergens, but won't change the fact that you are allergic to them.

Has anyone heard anything from SueLynn lately? I wonder if she has decided to go with those SofLens daily disposable contact lenses?

SueLynn's been missing for about three months now. I hope that means she's happy with the SofLens contacts.
