These contact lenses have fairly complex optical qualities. Does that make them feel dry or uncomfortable when it's time to go to bed? Do you sleep in them?

I don't believe you can sleep in soflens - I wear purevision lenses if I want to sleep in them.

Hi Lynda. I hope you're still reading Lens 101 so I can thank you for your reply.

These Purevision contact lenses of yours; are they Purevision Multifocal? Also, you said you wear Purevision "if you want to sleep in them." Does that mean you wear something else (Soflens Multifocal?) if you're planning on taking them out for the night?

Hello. I wear Soflens multifocal. They are very comfortable and I can't feel them at all. The multifocal abilities are brilliant.

If I want to sleep in lenses (like when I travelled back to England from Canada) I wore the Purevision multifocal. However, they are not so comfortable, it feels like a small hair in each eye, and I think it's because the base curve is a different size maybe? The focusing abilities are just the same - and I wish I could wear them, I would prefer to wear lenses 24/7 instead of putting them in each day.

But even if I fall asleep for as little as 20 mins in my Soflens it feels like they have welded to my eyes!

Wow. Let that be a lesson to you, boys and girls. No napping in your Soflens Multifocal contact lenses.

Thank you Lynda.

Some contacts you can sleep in and others you can't, it depends on the brand. Always use wetting drops throughout the day to prevent them from drying out.

Exactly. You can't sleep in daily disposables, and the wetting drops are a good idea.
