Default SofLens Multi-Focal Plus Reading Glasses

I read about a guy who was fitted for multi-focal contact lenses and was not satisfied with the visual quality, and his eye doctor told him to keep the contacts and wear reading glasses when necessary.

He didn't find that advice very helpful and neither do I. Is there anyone here on Lens 101 who was told to wear reading glasses when they just needed an adjustment of their multi-focal contacts?

I had to try several different manufacturers (all the same prescription) before I found the right multi-focals for me. Your optician should in fact try sample lenses of different kinds in your eyes before you go ahead and buy any.

Thanks, Lynda. I thought that was the usual procedure. Would you happen to know if there is any kind of limitation to how many sample lenses you are allowed?

I can only go by my optician, and she tried 1 set of Purevision, and 1 set of Soflens (1 set = 1 lens each eye) and happened to get it right with just that amount of trialing. I suppose the optician must continue until you are satisfied with the results/feel of the lenses?

Makes sense. Thanks Lynda.
