If you find it uncomfortable that the top half of your eyes are seeing things differently than the lower half. I wouldn't do it, that is just me though, some people are used to it and doesn't bother them.

You shouldn't even feel like you have any problems seeing close AND far if the prescription is correct. You should be able to see properly and clearly at all ranges wearing your lenses.

Looks like we have a tie score, folks. One respondent said that driving with multi-focals is a bad idea, while the other says it's no big deal.

Can we get a tie-breaking vote?

multifocal lenses don't work with a 'line' dividing the lenses into two halfs. They work as varifocal glasses, and so if your prescription is correct, you should see no difference - it should all appear to be in focus.

and bi-focals are different to multi-focals - and you asked about multi-focals.....

I think you might just be on to something, Lynda. I read the answer again and thought, "I thought multi-focal contacts had kind of a "target" design, with concentric circles?" That's right, isn't it?
