I just heard about these contact lenses called SoClear Sports Lenses. Apparently they're all the rage with high school athletes. Can someone tell me more about these contacts and why they're so popular?

The SoClear Sports Lens is a high end custom lens, that fits the individuals eye. I play tennis and my doctor told me about them. You have to be custom "fit" for them, kind of like orthotics for your feet. I went in once, got the first set of lenses, and then the doctor had to make a minor tweak to one. It really has changed my game! I highly recommend them. I wear them throughout the day, and my vision is really great, and the lenses are comfortable throughout the day. Basically, the lens stays stationary in the eye, so your vision is constantly sharp. My doctor said that it has become a very busy part of his practice because the "kids" ( wish I were one ) come in demanding them with their parents. He's one of those guys that loves technology, and has all the best gadgets in his office.
Good luck! |

Looks like this is your very first post here at Lens 101. Welcome to the community. Thank you for your answer to my question. It's always best to get a personal answer from someone who actually wears the contact lenses I'm asking about. So how do these Soclear lenses work? Are they tinted? You mentioned that Soclear lenses stay stationary, have moving contacts been a problem for you in the past? Thanks again for your time. Petra |

Hi Petra,
Thanks for the welcome. I found this bulletin board by googling "SoClear" lens so I could find it for a friend in LA that wanted to try them. My lenses are not tinted. From what the doc tells me, they are so comfortable and I get good vision because they are custom fit to my eye. He said the material is a new High end material from B&L. These are RGP lenses. I was hessitant at first, because I wore RGPs in my youth. But, these are designed to be very comfortable. All of my life I've struggled with lenses moving during sports/outdoor activities. Also, I've never had anywhere near as good of vision as with the SoClear. I hope this helps! |

Hi Ken,
Apologies for the very slow reply, I was out of the country for business for some weeks. Your question was do they give any sort of irritation. None at all, and in fact, I often think the lens has fallen out because i can't feel them. I actually asked my doctor about this, and he said that this is common, because the design is so closely matched to each individual's eye. Since I last reported, several of my colleagues have been fit in the lens and absolutely love them. I hope this helps, |
