HELP!!! In search of Toric Colored Contacts!!!

Hey everyone!!! I have been looking for light brown/hazel color toric contacts. After much searching, I finally decided on Soleko Queen's Toric in Giallo. They look quite nice and natural on pics and vids. The problem is I saw a couple of pics of Toric Solekos and they have a very noticeable slit on them, Those little lines toric contacts usually have. The lines look very noticeable and now I don't know what contacts I can get. I don't like the look of Fresh look color blends, and Waikon hazel looks way too light. I found other companies that seem to carry colored torics: Lunelle ES 70 Toric Colour , and Weflex 55 Toric, but I can't find any reviews or pics of either!? Can anyone help me out? or has anyone tried Toric Solekos that didn't have those little lines on them? I wear clear torics and they don't have those little lines, a few years back the contacts the Optometrist prescribed still came with the slits but the ones she prescribes now don't have them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Okay, tell me a little more about those "lines." I tried to find a picture to post here, but I couldn't find one that didn't have one of those annoying watermarks that advertised the website. You probably don't have enough posts to put up a picture, but if you just let us know what website we can find the lenses on, maybe someone can put up the picture so we can see what you're asking about.

Yeah your probably right Ordersixtysix, unfortunately I can't post pics. I tried to post links to the websites but it's telling me I must have 15 posts or more :/ crap. Okay well I googled : Soleko Queen Toric and it was on the first page but more specifically, you can google:
Soleko Queen Toric Aqua-Blegh - Contact Lens Forums From ACLens
and you will come to pics of a person who is complaining about the little lines on her blue toric Solekos.

If you also google: PIC Soleko Queen Ciallo (Toric) - Contact Lens Forums From ACLens , it will bring you to a pic of a girl who has Giallo toric Solekos and you can also see the lines in her contacts as well

The lines seem pretty noticeable. I don't mean to mention another forum on here but it's the only way I could show you guys :p. The pictures aren't that recent, but I wonder if they are still making the torics this way, or if they "fixed" it.

Hi supercakesniffer. (Great name.) I tried to find those pictures you mentioned, but the links didn't seem to work. I went to AClens and just searched for "Giallo" and got an error page.

Then I just did a general Google search for "Soleko Queen Toric" and found lots of pictures, but nothing that showed any lines.

Thanks Hypnoteyes, lol. Crap they didn't work? How many posts do I need to put up pics? I hope it's not 15, if it is I have a looong way to go lol. Yeah those pics don't show up in Google image searches when I look for them either, I don't know why? I'm gonna have to try and think up any new thread ideas so I can post them up here :/.

I beleive you have to have at least fifteen posts in order to put up a picture. It's been what? Two, three days since you signed up and you're halfway there already. You can build your post count by answering other people's questions, too. You don't have to necessarily come up with 15 new questions.

That totally sucks that it has to be 15 :/ . Thanks for all your help though OrganicPete :) It sucks that many toric lenses are super blue or green because even though many people would like to have blue or green eyes, it doesn't necessarily look right on everyone. I personally think I would look like a zombie with blue eyes lol they should really come up with more hazel toric contacts :(

I think that 15 post rule has something to do with people putting up posts about other stuff besides contact lenses. I don't quite understand. Maybe it's so we can get a chance to get to know you before we see your picture, I don't know.
Tell you what. Why don't you try and post a picture and see what happens. Maybe you'll get an error message that will explain things. Or maybe that 15 post rule is no longer in effect. I'd try it myself but as you can see I have well over 15 posts.

I looked for a pair of hazel toric lenses for you, but you're right, there aren't any. Your best bet would be to look for vial lenses, but there are two drawbacks to that plan. One is that vial lenses are pretty expensive and two is that they all seem to be discontinued. I wish I could be more helpful, but that's all I've got.

Shamrocker 11-21-2011 11:19 PM

Here's a possibility...

I wonder if these would work for you, supercupcakesniffer? I've never worn these lenses, but they are a toric hazel lens and the color looks nice. Super-pricey though...:(

I went to that website and looked at the prices. It said

2 +
$306.15

So does that mean they're $306.15 for each lens if you buy two of them? If so that's an awful lot of dough for contact lenses.

Shamrocker 11-22-2011 05:59 PM

It's for the pair. Still a lot, but torics are always higher.

A Cheaper Alternative

Yeah, over three hundred dollars for a pair of contact lenses is a lot, even for colored torics. Just out of curiosity I checked what Lens.com had. All of their vial lenses seem to have been discontinued, but I found FreshLook ColorBlends Toric lenses, and they sell for $55 for a box of six lenses. You may want to check them out.

Shamrocker 11-29-2011 11:11 PM

I don't know that the FreshLooks are cheaper in the long run, when you consider that the OPTOGEL TORIC COLOR is an annual replacement lens, and you'd have to buy 8 boxes of FreshLooks to last a year. Wouldn't that be $440? The disposable lenses are nice though, if you have trouble with protein buildup on your contacts. It's nice to have options though, so you can select what looks nicest on you and what's best for your eyes. Unfortunately, with all the discontinued lenses in the past year, we don't have very many options anymore, especially if you want a colored toric. :(

Thanks for bringing that up. Sometimes you have to look at your purchases in the long run, and at other time you just need to say "this is how much I can afford right now."

Soleko Queen Lenses have noticeable lines!

It is TRUE! I ordered the Soleko Queen lenses in green and both contacts have VERY noticeable lines on both sides of them. It is awful and a waste of money! Don't get them. I have not posted enough to be able to upload a picture of them in my eyes, otherwise I would. I am thinking about purchasing the OPTOGEL TORIC LENSES in VERDE (green) from WRLENS.com.

....but those are disposables, the others are annuals.....
so 3 pairs of 2 week disposables at 55 bucks a pop doesn't work out to be a deal when you spend 440 for a year supply

So in the end, you would end up paying MORE for an inferior looking lens

Ha, ha, I don't think they'll ever be convinced! I admire your perseverance! :p

Just because the lines looked conspicuous in a picture doesn't mean they'll be that noticeable in your eyes. Maybe you should ask your doctor for a trial pair. Of course, those might have the word "TEST" printed on them, just to give you something else to try to ignore. ;)

....in America Solekos can only be bought online, a doctor wouldn't have a sample pair to try

hi everyone, sorry to intrude, but when it comes to "lines" are you referring to the marbled/feathered/computerised colour than you find on some contact lenses, which makes them appear fake, or are their other lines you guys are referring to?

Toric lenses have laser marks so ECPs can determine lens rotation. Laser marks are pretty tricky with colored lenses; if they're too pronounced, the patients are unhappy, as it noticeably intrudes on the color of the lens (which seems to be the case here). If they're not pronounced enough, doctors are unhappy with the lenses, as they can't determine how it fits.

I believe these lines to be the subject of this thread. In this picture it's the short blue line in about the 4 o'clock position. See it?

So...how visible are the laser marks on your Clearlab colored toric lenses? Would you happen to have a photo? Do you know if it would be possible to obtain a trial colored toric Clearlab lens through my eye doctor?

To be honest, we actually have the opposite problem, in that it's extremely hard to see the laser marks on our lenses, even for doctors. I couldn't take a photo as the laser mark is pretty much impossible to see without ECP equipment. Case in point, we've had to remake a number of custom torics because the doctors couldn't find the laser marks.

As for a trial, all of our color torics are custom made, so there isn't any trial of the actual toric lens available. That said, we do of course have plano colored trials available which you can use to determine lens fit and comfort, and we'll remake the lens once free of charge should it not work for whatever reason the first time we make it.

Thanks for the inside information, Clearlab. It's good to have a spy. :D
