Default Does the Base Curve of my contact lenses really make a difference

Hi,

I am currently using the 1-Day Acuvue for Astigmatism and the base curve on the box says 8.5.

Does the base curve really make a difference and would I be able to use the Air Optix for Astigmatism with a base curve of 8.7 comfortably?

Thanks,
Tom

I heard that the curve was a key factor associated with where an image is focused on the retina. You may be able to wear a different curvature with comfort, but your astigmatism might not be corrected.

Remember, this is what I heard. It might not be true,

The base curve of the lens has to match the curve of your eye. If it doesn't it will be uncomfortable and your vision will be blurred. However, since 8.5 is as close to 8.7 as you can get without customizing, you may be able to get away with it. If you eye doctor will write the prescription then I guess it's okay.
